The ninth week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired last night here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the semi-final episode below: {For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
This year’s X Factor is hotting up, with surprises never amiss – more specifically the ousting of former firm favourite Diana Vickers last night. The evening, which saw the contestants perform 2 songs – one of their choice and one of their judges choosing, was all about Alexandra IMO. Alex did great, although I wasn’t so sure about the ‘Don’t Stop The Music’ performance. ‘Unbreak My Heart’ was awesome. This girl really must win. Roll on next week.

Wow. I agree with Simon, Unbreak My Heart is such a hard song to sing, and she pulled it off. We need a sultry alto, and I hope she gets promotion in America.
I'd love Rihanna to see Alexandra doing that performance of her song – as Alexs' performance & vocal is stella compared to riri's lak luster and winey vocals!

Its seems to me that Beyonce only does these movie to be the 1st black woman in history to win a grammy and a oscar.
But Beyonce is not a actress at all, she really cant act to save her life. With J-Hud on the hills to be the very 1st woman to win the grammy and Oscar b4 Beyonce.

Beyonce seems to rush at all the movies b4 any one else get to them. Beyonce name alone will draw money, but if she cant act y keep givin her roles to a movie??????

Urrrm! This is about xfactor, not Beyonce or Jennifer Hudson. anyway, back to the matter at hand, i think that Alex sis a great performance of both songs and i enjoyed her version of please don’t stop the music and feel that she adapted it to suit her voice. Unfortunately (and it saddens me to say this) but JLS might just win (although i really don’t get the hype) but i wish them well, anything but Eogeon. I have to say that it was the most emotional exit i have ever seen. I’m sure Diana will still be successful, these shows are not designed for her – Dido would’ve never have won xfactor due to not being diverse enough and i think that Diana is similar but she will be successful doing her own thing. Good luck to all the finalists.

i want to see Beyonce on X Factor. I live in America but im rooting for Alex. Ive been watching since Sam first posted about this. Alex wants Beyonce to be on and she said that was her dream. I would love to see them 2 do a song together next week!

I wasnt too sure about the first performance myself but when she brought that raw emotion and raw talent in for the second song, i instantly whispered to myself, ‘This chick must win’

Toni Braxton will be proud! SHE DID AN amazing rendition of it! Im in USA so cant watch it but Sam and other utubers keep me posted/updated.

Alexandra did really well with “Un-break my heart”
And i love how Alex riffs in the songs to add dynamics and diverseness..
In terms of her personality: YES she got a little diva thing going in her actions especially in performances but she is also fun and hungry to do what she loves so nothing wrong with that..
She admitted she was too serious at first and be4 but she’s grown and now blossoming in2 a REAL Artist.
JLS second performance was their best but i still feel they are lackin abit of Soul in the vocal arrangments.
Glad there’s two black acts in the FINALE though soo well done…

Wow! Why all the comparisons to others and why the personal jibbs. I remember people complaining about Leona having no personallity now people are hating on Alex 4 having too much personality, if I remember correctly Cheryl told Alex that she would have to let people see more of her personality is if she was to stand any chance. She said herself she has changed and is probably a different person from the one (somewho knows her) once knew. She must have something going for her if everyone that works with her 24/7 seems to absolutely adore her (not just like) THEY THINKS SHE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON!
Looks, she is, and always has been a stunner in same way people look at Bey or RiRi and (it's sad to say) that alone will carry her far in this industry with the kind of marketing Simon Fuller will put her through and the Designer attendtion she is getting already I can image they are gonna try and make her the s** simbol/style icon of Bey/RiRi and Brit.
Beyond all that can we not just accept that the girl has talent. If nurtured correctly she will become even better and show more range than present. Should she wins, just like Leona, her voice, tone, range and control will develope over the coming year and if they take their time and produce a great product I see no reason why she could not be a huge pop/r&b international star.
all the alexandra haters, hmm maybe rihanna fans. i love rihanna but alexandra killed her song off, way better live vocals than rihanna. not hatin on rihanna cos i think she’s amazin, jus stating. i’ve been rooting for her to win all through xfactor, everyone of her performances were gold, especially beyonce’s listen, i had goosebumps watching that. toni braxton should be proud, she really done that song justice, wasn’t too keen on the first one bu the second performance made up for it. i hope jls don’t win, because i don’t think they will do good in the music business today, maybe early nineties with take that, boys to men etc, but not today. i don’t want owen to win, because weneva i watch him i LOL. GO ALEXANDRA!!!
I don’t get the hype. I didn’t think either song was good at all. Both sounded weird in spots. That’s just my opinion.
