Jimmy Jam: "We’re Working On New Janet Album Now"

Published: Monday 9th Feb 2009 by Sam

In an interview conducted last week, Jimmy Jam, of legendary production duo Jam & Lewis, revealed that he is currently working on the new Janet Jackson album. While not much else in the way of specific info was conveyed, it marks the first time since 2006’s ’20 Y.O’ that Jackson and the duo have worked together.
I’m really anxious to find out what this means for Janet in terms of a new label…album release date etc. Here’s hoping all falls into place for her this go-round. Say what you want, but you can’t say her post-Superbowl albums ‘Damita Jo’, ’20 Y.O’ and ‘Discipline’ didn’t have several gems on them…can you?
Your thoughts?

Her career starting going south when she started working w/ Jermaine. Keep him out of the studio!

I can’t wait to hear janet’s new album, i’m glad she’s getting back with jimmy and terry, they truly brought out janet’s originality. I think this new album is gonna put her back on top!

It’s funny how people now want her to work with Jimmy and Terry again when people were saying they were part of the problem before. I personally think she should always work with them, whether the general public likes it or not. I do agree that Jermaine should stay away. Janet is great no matter what, but it will be extra special to see her back on top again. Hopefully it will happen.

Some people just don’t know how to let a legend be just that “a legend”. Move on!

My question is what label is going to believe in her as a relevant pop star to sign her and promote/market/distribute this album? I am a huge Janet fan and it would sadden me to see her go through the same mess since the Damita Jo days. There is no doubt in my mind that the reunion of Janet, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis would make an incredible album. IMO, she’s never made a bad album. I just don’t really see her selling millions of albums anymore because she’s a album focused artist. The music industry is extremely fickle right now and they’re about singles that sound good on the radio. Most of her music is not radio-friendly by today’s standard and plus the majority of the public thinks she needs to retire anyway. I just want her to receive the respect she deserves from a label that will thoroughly invests in her talent and artistry.

IT’S ABOUT TIME. I WAS WONDERING WHEN SHE WOULD GET BACK WITH THEM. HER ASS SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHY DO PPL ALWAYS LEAVE A GOOD THING. EVER SINCE JERMAINE DUPRI STARTED DOING HER MUSIC HER CAREER HAS GONE DOWN THE DRAIN. SMH.

BUT WILL SEE WHERE THEY TAKE HER CAREER NOW. GO JANET!!!!!!!

Yes! 🙂 The only album I thought was lacking post-Superbowl was was 20 YO, but this is great news hopefully they can maintain the chemistry they have and JD needs to stay away! He’s busy working on Monica and Usher’s albums right now anyway and I think he’s even doing some tracks for Mariah too, so maybe he will. I do agree with Sam that she had some great songs on the albums post-superbowl but she chose the wrong singles. Hopefully she won’t make that make that mistake this time. Let the fans vote somehow if she’s having trouble making single choices.

I’ve always believed in Janet and have had faith that she’d come back on top! She still has time and can still do this, and now with word that she’ll be returning back to her ROOTS, the two people who played a huge role in shaping her career and iconic status to what it is today, I’m even more optimistic about this. I can’t wait to see what the up and coming months have in store…

i dont know if janet will ever be back on top, but she can be on of the stars, still one one can out perform her or have the female stage presence she has. Jimmy terry back and now its time to leave Gill I know she loves him, but put his where back there and get tina back or try some one who is revealvant in dance today, she needs some new hot moves and a diffrent style of dance this time around. and she has to find her way back to radio, with a single that people wanna hear, no matter what. and she can do it. she jsut has to sing and stop whispering and cooing like mae west, we wanna hear vocals, like on all for you, or when i think of u, a feel good song, not necessary wraped up in s** , just a banger that makes you say nice,,,, with a hot video, no space s*** , jsut a hot dance video or a liad back chill video. no more space and milkway. feedback was a hot track, but the video and raedio killed the song. we need a new and improved but familiar janet. maybe get tina back behind yoru dance…
