Comeback queen Whitney Houston kicked off her world tour today in Moscow, Russia. The singer, 46, voice was in tip-top shape (for 2009 Whitney) as she revisited her classic hits as well as new cuts from her Platinum selling LP ‘I Look To You’. She has really come leaps and bounds with the vocals, which in time I’m sure will only get even better. ‘I will always love you got better’, but started off so bad I didn’t want to watch any more videos. I didn’t expect her to sound like the Whitney old, but after some of her live performances I believe the years of drug use messed up her voice. Still a fan, but my list of artists I’d see live is very short.
She was great. I love her.
I think Whitney should’ve stuck with the idea of opening a juice stand on a tropical island. I hope those people did not pay to hear her butcher those songs… I love Whitney but this is just messy! “I Look To You” is one of my fav albums of 2009 but one must know from listening to that album that “the voice” that once had artists and industry standing in awe is no more and never will be again… So unfortunate!
I really enjoyed all of the performances. I thought that she did very well on mliyl, bobbi kris’s dedicatin, iwdws and even myily- her chest/head notes and vibrato are still there- she just needs to use them more and get some cardio in.

@Mariah fans: Whitney has nodules as well and after putting on several major world tours with hundreds of LIVE singing, i can see how this and substance can wear on her voice. Mariah tour dates don’t come close to the dates Whitney has done.

Before I go on stage, Dima wanted to talk to the legend of the American pop scene, but the singer was denied on the grounds that Houston had been communicating with the wife of President of Russia Svetlana Medvedev. Bilan very offended and just left the “Olympic”, write “Arguments and Facts”.

Obviously lots of people have a lot of hope & love for Whitney and are wishful hearing. It’s not hate, it’s honesty–her voice is all but gone. “Tip top shape”? That’s just a flat out lie unless you’re love for Whitney has caused you to completely lose your hearing. She talks her way through most songs and takes unnaturally long breaks between some notes and she doesn’t make it worth the wait or build up. She still has a great tone that she can use to her advantage during parts of a song for a nice burst here and there but she can barely hold notes and at points sounds really bad when she tries. Overall, I’m not sure she’s improving and it just may get worse with the extra strain she has to use to try to be the old Whitney. It’s just hard to watch for someone like me who really appreciates her body of work and what use to be the “voice.”
I was so impressed with Nippy’s performance in Moscow. Her range is evidently coming back. And her voice is getting stronger. She does not failed to wow her audience with her ability to soar in different octaves with such agility and passion. Her voice maybe different but I have come to embrace the voice of the new Whitney. Her voice is now is filled with so much soul which is the defining factor of what a true talent is. Today’s singer s should look at her performance to learn how a consummate singer should sing and perform.
Her albujm’s performance is equally impressive in today’s state of music industry. To be certified platinum just right after 3 months of release is such a remarkable feat.
No one will be like Whitney HOuston and even other singer would agree.
