New Song: Toni Braxton – ‘Lookin’ At You’

Toni Braxton is preparing for the release of her new studio album, ‘Pulse’ later this year. Emerging from her studio session is the up-tempo ‘Lookin’ At You’ which was produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins. ‘Pulse’ hits stores on March 2nd.

Infectiously catchy, this beat-driven track is one of the better tracks that have surfaced from Braxton’s new project. Her voice works well with the production without getting lost behind the it. However, I am concerned about this album because, thus far, none of the material has had the elements of a smash hit. Hopefully, Braxton has something major plan for the 2nd single because her previous release, ‘Yesterday’, while peaking at #12 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart, has failed to make a major impact on the mainstream formats.

Hit or Miss?

    These singer need to stop jackin Beyonce’s style and swagger. That song sounds too much like “Put a ring on it”. What ever happened to variety and originality, smdh! Toni needs to go lay down, but she can’t because she needs the money, and I understand that, but still.

    Trent: Please note that Toni’s yesterday peaked at #51 on the r&b charts translation, it was flopping on airplay. Then they released a single at walmart that is what made the song go to #12 cuz nobody’s playing it

    she is looking at flopping if nothing pops off soon

    I like it. I don’t think anyone can copy Beyonce’s style since Beyonce does not have a style. Beyonce copies other artists and steals their lyrics.

    @dilla
    ROFL, Toni Braxton would never copy anyone, even less a copycat, stfu and tell your idol to stop copying other artits

    it does sound like something Beyonce would sing on. it also sounds more like a Swizz Beatz production, rather than Darkchild. However, lets pay respect where it is due and give Toni some level of credit. The Beyonce’s of this world are influenced by Toni, Mariah, Tina Turner etc, so its a case of what came first, the Chicken or the egg lol? Anyways, regardless of what it sounds similar to, I actually like it. One of Toni’s most relevant songs for a number of years. I do actually like the songs I have heard so far from Toni, but think they lack the radio friendly edge required to be a success these days.

    123fart, or whatever your name is, I am sooo not a Beyonce fan, so choke on that one, but hell yes that track has Beyonce written all over it, and anybody that knows Toni’s music, which you obviously don’t, knows that this is soo not her style of music. Toni is way above this popcorn shyt. This is beneath her in my opinion. Kiss off duche 123fart!

    @Fushion, I agree with you, except coming from Toni, this sort of disappoints me.

    “Looking At Me” is produced by Lucas Secon and written by Lucas Secon and Makeba Riddick.

    You know, I would love for Toni to stick to her true self….singing classic, soulful r&b and I am sure some singer songwriter can add a little twist to it. Don’t really care to see her go the urban route. She is truly a beautiful and has such a wonderful voice. Loved her singing “Don’t Leave” that leaked out the other day.
