The 82nd annual Oscar Award nominees were announced within the hour, and Lee Daniel’s critically acclaimed ‘Precious’ has scooped nominations in the several major categories!

*Comedienne and talk-show host Mo’Nique is nominated for Best Supporting Actress

*Lead, Gaboruey Sidibe – who played ‘Precious’ – is up for Best Actress

*The movie’s director Lee Daniels has been nominated for Best Director

‘Precious’ is also up for Best Picture

As one of the most potent pieces of cinematography I’ve seen in a long while, I most definitely feel the nominations are very much deserved (as are their potential wins). Tune in to the show on March 7th to see how ‘Precious’ fares…

All I know is that somebody better take home an oscar for this movie, because it deserves to win in many of the categories nominated.

Well done. Always knew Mo’Nique and Gaboruey would be up for those nods. And I’m betting now that Mo will take home BSA. She won the Golden Globe and those are always a good indicator…

Although I am always happy when Black people are up for acting awards as it is too few.I wonder why it is always for films that tend to portray us negatively. No one can deny that Halle Berry, Denzel in Training Day and Whoopi in Ghost were not positive parts. There are so many baeutiful Black films that are ignored The Secret Life of Bees being one.

THANK GOD THE FAT COW MARIAH WASNT NOMINATED. THE ACADEMY AGREES SHE SUCKS!! GUARANTEED WIN FOR MONIQUE!

    @ANON
    stop being so negative!

Somebody is always bringing up the fact that some of blacks’ wins are “negative” roles.. I mean give it a rest. Sometimes you get the most emotional and gritty performances in these types of roles. Our community is not the picture of perfection by any means. I understand what you’re saying, but things take time. At least we’re winning.

I think Monique will win. I really hope that Gabby wins though. She really played that part well. I hope Lee Daniels wins as well a great director.

“Your a dummy, don’t nobody want you, don’t nobody need you…school ain’t gonna help none…take your ass down to da welfare…”

    Get Mo and Gabby!

The whole cast did a great job , I’m glad to see it up for some Oscars .

@ANON, TOTALLY agree! I woulda been mad pissed had Mariah’s lazy ass been nominated for anything. Everybody kept talking about how she “did such a great job”, I was like what?? She played a social worker whose character was by no means anything out of the ordinary. The most dramatic thing about her role in the film was her makeup job, b**** please…

It’s great that this film and it’s lead actors/director are nominated, but I won’t be satisfied until they win. And if they don’t, ooohhhh…don’t even let me think about that one, lol.

    ^^
THANKS FOR THE CO-SIGN!! HOWEVER, THE SAME SHOULD BE SAID FOR SANDRA BULLOCK. ALL SHE PLAYED IN “THE BLIND SIDE” WAS A RICH HOUSEWIFE WITH A SOUTHERN DRAWL. BIG F****** DEAL!! ANYONE WHO SAW THE MOVIE COULD SEE IT WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN A DISNEY OR LIFETIME FLICK. IN FACT I FOUND “REMEMBER THE TITANS” A MORE INSPIRING AND BETTER SCRIPTED SPORTS MOVIE. I HOPE MERYL STREEP TAKES IT FOR BEST ACTRESS. SHE GETS NOMINATED EVERY YEAR BUT NEVER WINS EVEN THOUGH SHE GOES ALL OUT IN EVERY PROJECT SHE DOES. YEA SHE HAS 2 ALREADY BUT IF BOOTY SHAKER BEY CAN GET 16 GRAMMYS, MERYL WHO IS TRULY A GIFTED ARTIST CAN GET MORE. SHOWS U HOW PATHETIC THE GRAMMYS ARE. SMFH.
