Holding true to our promise of keeping things fresh here at That Grape Juice (v.2.0 baby!), we bring you ‘Cover Star’. Completing our current feature-list (From The Vault, Original Articles etc), Cover Star will each week showcase regular folk’s rendition of your favourite tracks. Recent history has shown the web to be the place to discover new talent – talent which is undeniably out there in abundance. So what better way to give shine to undiscovered talent than on your favourite site and mine – That Grape Juice!
This week’s Cover Star is Alanna Mitchell. The 22 year old Detroit, Michigan native turns in a commendable rendition of Destiny Child‘s 2005 hit ‘Stand Up For Love’. Check it out below:
Great performance! With the song being somewhat difficult to sing, and Alanna taking on all the verses and choruses, it’s understandable as to why there were a few iffy points. Yet for the most part, she held her own, showcasing some pretty impressing runs. More power to her!

i’m a big fan of young talent…but… this was mediocre at best.
i think Beyonce’s part was very easy ofcoz, she just had 2 try and yell, shake her voice and all that, but Kelly and Michelle’s part sounded kind of a challenge because they really SANG i gotta give this gurl an A for effort tho!
Sometimes I wish you would focus more on shedding light on new artists instead of people singing in their bedrooms and bathrooms. That’s not keeping it fresh. Artisits like Melanie Fiona, VV Brown, and Janelle Monae are making moves, but they barely gets a mention on this blog…ever. Instead, I get Treshauna singing next to her toilet.
I appreciate the effort you and Trent put into this blog. Sometimes I just wish it’s subject matter was as good as the writers though. That’s all.
I with “Anon” above. however, i have to disagree with people singing in their “bedrooms and bathrooms… [is] not keeping it fresh.”
their are so many great voices out there that none of us have heard. Yes, there are existing artist which are great and are trying to make movements in the industry but, what about the artist who have not even had the privilage or confidence to sing infront of an audience, or go to the studio, or forced to do a job they don’t like because of family presure they maybe equally as good, if not better, than existing artists out there.
So,….
Don’t know it till you’ve tried it…. 🙂
why dont you talk about some underground black music artists? like Tweet, Leela James, so many people with epic albums yet no1 knows them, known blogs should use their influence for those kind of artists, as much as I dont like Perez Hilton, he does that, and I think it is cool
LMAO!!! Treshauna singing next to her toilet? Stick a fork in me…..I’m done!
she’s off key
i know her, her friend used to do my nails in Detroit. She is so nice, she can’t sing, but she is nice cool. She was in this girl group in Detroit, but I have not heard from them in a while.
