Published: Tuesday 27th Apr 2010 by Sam

British Pop phenom’s JLS continue their quest to break the US market, today stopping by NBC Philadelphia’s ’10 Show’ to perform their Stateside debut ‘Everybody In Love’. While you can check out how Marvin, Oritse, Aston, and JB, fared below, we’re quite keen to hear if our non-UK visitors are warming to the boys. Because, I still don’t get the hype….

Damn, when they gonna get a show with some actual ratings? You know when Alexandra goes over there, SyCo are gonna have it down with her performing at everyone’s chat show, today show, tonight show, award show, dog show etc

I’m a US reader and I kept hear about them on this site but never heard any of their music till this AND…….. and I’m not impressed. State music side today has a much more mature song which this song lacks. It almost sounds targeted for teenie boppers (which the states are all out) of they need to come with a club bang or at least a great ballad not a t*** disney sing along. Sorry guys not impressed

I’m kinda embarassed (being british) that these guys are basically being branded to americans as one of the biggest UK acts, when their vocals have not been good in either of their performances, the song is mediocre at best, and their dancing is so cheesy it makes me cringe.

Sorry, i mean i wish them the best of luck, but in my opinion they have been completely underwhelming.

As the official mass media ambassador of the USA, I regret to inform all of you that America will never like JLS and we do not want another group of young gay boys pretending to be straight. The boy band fad went away when Justin Timberlake grew up. We do not fall for mediocre corporate bands anymore, we are already trying to get rid of Justin Bieber. No one even knows JLS and they never will. If they want real success they should aggressively attack the young female audience and the creepy “old m*******-man” audience.

What is your problem? Please stop complaining! There was nothing wrong with their performance! Even if there was, they r a new group n they have to start from some where, not all their performances will be perfect.

And To the so-called mass media whatever, FYI the fact that ur attracted to them doesn’t make them gay!! Thank goodness their popularity does not depend on u either! Speak 4 urself if u don’t like them, not for america!

Keep on doing ur best JLS,UK is behind u!!

As a whole they weren’t great…but Aston alone was pretty damn good. I think he really outshines the other 3 here.

I am sorry but can everyone stop saying they are bad live, you are judging them on one performance and it was amazing. I have seen them live singing there whole album, and dancing at the same time and they were incredible, please just give them a chance and don’t base it on one performance. Thank-u
    xx

Typical British talk – Britain loved JLS when they were up against Alexandra Burke for the X-Factor title. JLS developed a huge a loyal fan base before the finale. Their album and singles have all done well and not mediocre well. selling Millions in an era where people do not really buy music like when MJ was music king. I feel they will do well in the states even if only moderatly. They are a boy band, and so what if teenie boppers will be their appeal for now. I am sure they will show growth when their next album comes out. American record execs must have seen something that sell as major labels wanted to sign them stateside.
Now all we need is for Alexandra Burkes PR team to up their game. Now if JLS was Westlife than you could get a complaint in cos Westlife show absolutely no variety at all in their sound or music.

A group of young black boys/men are better off on stage singing than hanging about on street corners being idle

To be honestly, these boys probably won’t do to well here in the States. They’re WAY too pop, for an Urban market which is the market they’re gonna get labeled as just because of their skin color. Additonally, their music is really bad. Really, Really bad, and sounds just like everything else David Guetta’s been producing.

Alexandra can totally come to the States and reign, but for either Alexandra or JLS they’ll need a new sound and better music, because, even though Americans listen to A WHOLE DAMN LOT of BS pop music, we just don’t eat as much pop s*** as other counties.

SIDENOTE 2 Sam: I love Kelly Rowland’s ‘Commander’ but there is NOTHING Urban about that song, except a black girl is singing it.

I cannot stand people who go nuts over anything with a pretty face but no talent. I hope everyone here knows how to have their own opinions instead of just following a crowd.
