“It bothers me when people take themselves too seriously. It’s like, loosen the fuck up. At the end of the day, this is entertainment. We should be entertained. I’ve gone through the ’12-Step Hip-Hop Program’: the mixtapes, the DVDs, the low-budget videos, the small shows. I thank God that I wasn’t signed years ago and that I didn’t have a hit record before I did the grind. I’m ready now.”

I feel the same way. nicki minaj is not going to be what everyone wants her to be…she can only be herself. What I like is that she is very different as far as looks are concerned and is using what she has to make it in this industry because in the end that is all you can do.

@Jonstrax…some people take themselves too seriously…some dont take themselves seriously enough or focus on the wrong things. i spent the weekend looking at awful live performances by many people … most notable Letoya Luckett who I just found live is just a no-no…. and it makes me grateful for ppl like Nicki Minaj.

Why are all peeps tripin ? i dont even listen to her type of music , but i know she’s just trying to ENTERTAIN people. And if you want messages ala Green Day, (which is one of my fav bands) at the end of the day theyre tryin to ENTERTAIN us too by kickin ass live shows. All music can have some type of current event and/or relevant messages, but in the end they are all meant to ENTERTAIN us because music is what after all? Music is an ART form of expression and art is meant to ENTERTAIN us. And if youre not ENTERTAINED with what youre listening to, wtf are you listening to it for anyways. Ive always been ENTERTAINED by music from Ozzy and others in the same genre of heavy metal, thrash etc. If they have a message in thier songs, its awesome as long as what? As long as it ENTERTAINS me, cuz if it doesnt then, why the hell am i gonna listen to it. BTW to be ENTERTAINED by a song also means that you may not exactly dig the lyrics or the “message” in a song but can be ENTERTAINING by the rythym or the beat of the music.
