It has has now been confirmed that the Nicki Minaj-assisted ‘Woohoo’ will serve as the next official single to be lifted from Christina Aguilera‘s ‘Bionic’ LP. According to All Access, the track is set to go for adds on radio on May 25th.
Smartly, ol’ Chrissy’s label RCA are wasting no time dusting themselves off and trying again after ‘Bionic’s’ lead single ‘Not Myself Tonight’ tumbled down the charts – after a disappointing #23 peak on the Billboard Hot 100. It’ll be hella interesting to see if ‘Woohoo’ can save what is otherwise looking to be a shaky start for the project.
Randomness: While not a ‘bad’ track, ‘Woohoo’ bares no trace of this ‘futuristic’ sound Aguilera has been screaming to the high heavens about. In fact, nothing we’ve heard from the album does. Granted we’ll hold full judgement until hearing the record in its entirety (being the fair and unbias site that we are), this is increasingly looking like a case of the artist trying to talk something into existence. By that, I mean, if she says it’s ‘futuristic’ enough times, then folk may just start to believe it. Just saying…

I think this is a good choice for her, and it’ll definitely attract the urban audience as well. I never bought her “futuristic” b******* in the first place, all artist’s do is talk talk talk, yet never deliver on what they say they’re new album is gonna sound like.

I don’t know about you but the album track Bionic sounds futuristic to me. And if you really listened to her interviews, she said that aside from being futuristic her album will have many layers into it. And out of that concept comes this hip-hop song, where we could hear her rapping. With all the songs that have been released and leaked, I’m definitely pleased because she proved that aside from being one of the best singer of her generation, she can do a lot with her vocals and that she does take risks.

Considering that Woohoo is being given away on Australian Itunes for immediate download if you pre-order Bionic, I seriously doubt whether it is going to be the next single…not to mention that if NMT struggled to get radio and tv coverage, then WooHoo will have the Christian/Family groups on the warpath and THAT will get even less play…
That aside, I like the track. Great beat and FUN.
Not gonna judge the album until I HEAR it. Christina has shown in the past that her initial single release does not necessarily reflect the album as a whole.
