This marks the 2nd time that Rihanna has taken a tumble on stage in less than a month. I went to see Rihanna in Liverpool last minute on Saturday (there were still tickets left) and I’ve got to say I was plesantly surprised! Considering I thought she’d be awful she shocked me. Firebomb was atrocious but the rest of the show was good! She doens’t do much but her voice was far better than I thought it ever would be!

Her dad, Matthew “cocaine and s** party” Knowles, fooled her into believing her own hype, telling her she could sell out 20,000-40,000 seat arenas this year, when in reality, most venues have been more than half empty for her shows. And thus, she embarked on an ill-fated, poor selling tour.
Thousands of tickets per show have been given away for free, to spare her further embarrassment, of performing to venues that are not even half full. Press releases were also published claiming the tour a sellout, when anyone could could to Ticketmaster and book tickets. The real sell out here is Beyonce and family, for pimping themselves out for fame, only for it to turn on them in the end.

RIHANNA SHOWS ARE BEING REVIEWED BY REAL CRITICS
WHEN Rihanna last took to the stage at the ECHO arena the Good Girl Gone Bad put on quite a show.
Two years and a million column inches later, this weekend the 22-year-old was back in Liverpool with her Last Girl On Earth tour and treating a capacity crowd to the sort of spectacle we are more used to seeing from artists who have been in the music game for decades.
But then Rihanna has grown up a lot in the past two years. With the whole Chris Brown scandal she has had to. Last year the r’n’b star, her then boyfriend, pleaded guilty to felony assault after pictures of Rihanna’s bruised face were flashed around the world following an incident before the 2009 Grammy Awards.
If Rihanna was feisty before all that, she is one tough n** now or, as she called herself: “the baddest b***h on Earth”.
After her last concert my one complaint was that she didn’t sing enough, preferring to dance and MC.
No such criticism could have been levelled at Saturday’s show.
For every high tempo number like Pon de Replay or SOS, there was a big ballad to show off her Caribbean-flavoured vocals. Unfaithful was a torch song moment while the recent top 10 hit Russian Roulette, made for a low-key but dramatic opening and she floored everyone by belting out a few bars of the Oasis classic Wonderwall performed while sitting atop a neon pink tank… as you do.
More than half of the tracks in the set list were hits, and the largely female, minidress-clad crowd loved it.
At times it was hard to hear Rihanna so loud was their singing.
But this show was about more than just music. No expense had been spared on a stage production that included LED backdrops, that tank, half a Cadillac – for Shut Up And Drive – aerial artists, hydraulic platforms, breakdancers and a full rock band.
Then there were the outfits. There were five full costume changes with each bodysuit leaving less to the imagination than the last. Rated R indeed.
It was such a high impact show it’s hard to believe this girl has only been in the business five years. It’s no wonder hip hop mogul Jay Z was falling over himself to sign her when she was 16.
As she brought the show to a close with her biggest hit Umbrella, I left the arena thinking that if Rihanna really were the last girl on Earth she could more than take care of herself.

Inside Nokia Music: Being an Alt-Rock child of the 90’s, any scenester-minded individual may have considered covering Rihanna through her Rated R album launch & world tour a bit laborious. But having become aware of it, then eradicating any scene adoption for the ridiculously misconceived need for a sense of belonging during my earlier years, I already had an inclination towards the odd Rihanna tune here and there. Certainly enough admiration to warrant me being a nervous wreck during the interview I did with her back in November ‘09.
Since a few weeks before the interview, I’ve near enough lived and breathed Rihanna and engaged with the fans, day in and day out. I’ve seen dedication to their Diva pushed beyond obsession, and to the likes of which I’ve never seen anywhere before. So much so that by an innocent folly of my own I suffered a backlash from fans that were angry at me for using a certain blog as a vehicle to get concert ticket give-aways out to a potentially larger Rihanna audience – The folly being that the aforementioned blog does have the odd poke at Rihanna and are well known among Rihanna communities for doing so. Although, only opinion that I believe should be taken with a pinch of salt, at the same time I do understand the frustration for the fans – which is a conundrum I would much rather have avoided altogether. This in a round-about sort of way brings me onto last night’s show at the O2…
The Last Girl On Earth show begins with an audio-visual introduction depicting a “Welcome to Rihanna’s dream… Is this real, is this not?” scenario. A sort of post-apocalyptic future reanimation of the last girl on earth (think Alien Resurrection) that continues throughout the show during costume and minor set changes with a smorgasbord of dark imagery and stylings reminiscent of Star wars, Tank Girl, and even Marilyn Manson.
Segueing into Russian Roulette, Rihanna is elevated by a stage platform wearing a dress red-lit on her abdomen with LED’s representing her beating heart, in context with the song’s lyrical content. As the song draws to an end, her rifle-toting dancers take up a firing squad line, and as the song’s closing shot rings out, the lights diminish to but a few…
A ballad is an unusual way to begin a show with but works on this occasion, giving impact room for Hard before rolling out the crowd pleasing Shut Up And Drive.
After Fire Bomb and a version of Disturbia with a renditioned intro, it’s Rockstar 101 when I really noticed just how much of a rock show the Last Girl On Earth Tour is. With it’s shredding guitars and world class triplet and syncopated live drumming, I couldn’t help but feel the “edgier” Rihanna does seem a bit lost on the island girl fans as the oceans of them in the standing area seemed more akin to the sea of tranquility… but never mind Ri-Ri, it was appreciated here.
Recent single Rude Boy revitalises the crowds again before the pace takes a laid-back turn as her guitarist and backing singers join her atop the pink tank prop (that had me grinning all night) for a medley of Oasis’ Wonderwall and Hate That I Love You.
Rehab hits it like every great power-ballad should and is followed by personal favourite Unfaithful.
After a touching Stupid In Love and a slightly over-mixed acoustic guitar on Te Amo, Pon De Replay seemed to briefly introduce a stomping Don’t Stop The Music. S.O.S seemed to get a slight chord progression rendition in the chorus too and sounded a little darker than usual… but still brilliant!
After another costume and set change I caught a cheeky glimpse from my ace seat near the stage side and instantly recognised the set from the Rated R launch party, picking Wait Your Turn as the first of the encore. The remainder of which was reserved for the biggies as she belted out Live Your Life and Run This Town… setting the beat up perfectly for show-closer Umbrella.

As a B stan and a very new Rih fan, I have to say that I don’t think ppl give her enough of a chance. I was talking to someone on Twitter yesterday who concurred.
Yes, when she first came out, Rih’s performances were very weak at best and her vocals were not on point. However, as of late, she’s been improving consistently and a lot of ppl still hold her in the same light they used to.
I have to admit that up until very recently, I too did the same. Someone showed me some pretty good performances of hers and she exhibited a vocal ability that I wasn’t aware she posessed. And her performing has gotten a great deal better.
Now, in no way am I suggesting for a SECOND that she’s as good as B live, because she isn’t. But she IS actually good and I think some of you should give her a chance and watch a recent performance before judging her.
And, I never used to believe the Rih stans when they said Sam and Trent aren’t fair towards her, but I’m starting to. Why not post some of the good performances I watched? Where are those on TGJ? And, if they hate her as much as is implied in every Rih post, why attend her concert?

WHEN Rihanna last took to the stage at the ECHO arena the Good Girl Gone Bad put on quite a show.
Two years and a million column inches later, this weekend the 22-year-old was back in Liverpool with her Last Girl On Earth tour and treating a capacity crowd to the sort of spectacle we are more used to seeing from artists who have been in the music game for decades.
But then Rihanna has grown up a lot in the past two years. With the whole Chris Brown scandal she has had to. Last year the r’n’b star, her then boyfriend, pleaded guilty to felony assault after pictures of Rihanna’s bruised face were flashed around the world following an incident before the 2009 Grammy Awards.
If Rihanna was feisty before all that, she is one tough n** now or, as she called herself: “the baddest b***h on Earth”.
After her last concert my one complaint was that she didn’t sing enough, preferring to dance and MC.
No such criticism could have been levelled at Saturday’s show.
For every high tempo number like Pon de Replay or SOS, there was a big ballad to show off her Caribbean-flavoured vocals. Unfaithful was a torch song moment while the recent top 10 hit Russian Roulette, made for a low-key but dramatic opening and she floored everyone by belting out a few bars of the Oasis classic Wonderwall performed while sitting atop a neon pink tank… as you do.
More than half of the tracks in the set list were hits, and the largely female, minidress-clad crowd loved it.
At times it was hard to hear Rihanna so loud was their singing.
But this show was about more than just music. No expense had been spared on a stage production that included LED backdrops, that tank, half a Cadillac – for Shut Up And Drive – aerial artists, hydraulic platforms, breakdancers and a full rock band.
Then there were the outfits. There were five full costume changes with each bodysuit leaving less to the imagination than the last. Rated R indeed.
It was such a high impact show it’s hard to believe this girl has only been in the business five years. It’s no wonder hip hop mogul Jay Z was falling over himself to sign her when she was 16.
As she brought the show to a close with her biggest hit Umbrella, I left the arena thinking that if Rihanna really were the last girl on Earth she could more than take care of herself.

Being an Alt-Rock child of the 90’s, any scenester-minded individual may have considered covering Rihanna through her Rated R album launch & world tour a bit laborious. But having become aware of it, then eradicating any scene adoption for the ridiculously misconceived need for a sense of belonging during my earlier years, I already had an inclination towards the odd Rihanna tune here and there. Certainly enough admiration to warrant me being a nervous wreck during the interview I did with her back in November ‘09.
Since a few weeks before the interview, I’ve near enough lived and breathed Rihanna and engaged with the fans, day in and day out. I’ve seen dedication to their Diva pushed beyond obsession, and to the likes of which I’ve never seen anywhere before. So much so that by an innocent folly of my own I suffered a backlash from fans that were angry at me for using a certain blog as a vehicle to get concert ticket give-aways out to a potentially larger Rihanna audience – The folly being that the aforementioned blog does have the odd poke at Rihanna and are well known among Rihanna communities for doing so. Although, only opinion that I believe should be taken with a pinch of salt, at the same time I do understand the frustration for the fans – which is a conundrum I would much rather have avoided altogether. This in a round-about sort of way brings me onto last night’s show at the O2…
The Last Girl On Earth show begins with an audio-visual introduction depicting a “Welcome to Rihanna’s dream… Is this real, is this not?” scenario. A sort of post-apocalyptic future reanimation of the last girl on earth (think Alien Resurrection) that continues throughout the show during costume and minor set changes with a smorgasbord of dark imagery and stylings reminiscent of Star wars, Tank Girl, and even Marilyn Manson.
Segueing into Russian Roulette, Rihanna is elevated by a stage platform wearing a dress red-lit on her abdomen with LED’s representing her beating heart, in context with the song’s lyrical content. As the song draws to an end, her rifle-toting dancers take up a firing squad line, and as the song’s closing shot rings out, the lights diminish to but a few…
A ballad is an unusual way to begin a show with but works on this occasion, giving impact room for Hard before rolling out the crowd pleasing Shut Up And Drive.
After Fire Bomb and a version of Disturbia with a renditioned intro, it’s Rockstar 101 when I really noticed just how much of a rock show the Last Girl On Earth Tour is. With it’s shredding guitars and world class triplet and syncopated live drumming, I couldn’t help but feel the “edgier” Rihanna does seem a bit lost on the island girl fans as the oceans of them in the standing area seemed more akin to the sea of tranquility… but never mind Ri-Ri, it was appreciated here.
Recent single Rude Boy revitalises the crowds again before the pace takes a laid-back turn as her guitarist and backing singers join her atop the pink tank prop (that had me grinning all night) for a medley of Oasis’ Wonderwall and Hate That I Love You.
Rehab hits it like every great power-ballad should and is followed by personal favourite Unfaithful.
After a touching Stupid In Love and a slightly over-mixed acoustic guitar on Te Amo, Pon De Replay seemed to briefly introduce a stomping Don’t Stop The Music. S.O.S seemed to get a slight chord progression rendition in the chorus too and sounded a little darker than usual… but still brilliant!
After another costume and set change I caught a cheeky glimpse from my ace seat near the stage side and instantly recognised the set from the Rated R launch party, picking Wait Your Turn as the first of the encore. The remainder of which was reserved for the biggies as she belted out Live Your Life and Run This Town… setting the beat up perfectly for show-closer Umbrella.

Rihanna straddled a florescent pink tank, gyrated with crash test dummies and danced beneath giant spiders on stilts as her UK tour arrived in London on Monday night (10 May). The 22-year-old star wore a floor-length black dress with red flashing lights on it to kick off the show at the capital’s 02 Arena, which began with last year’s single, Russian Roulette.
She went on to perform a 22-song set that included her own drum solo and a cover of vintage Oasis track Wonderwall. A montage of video clips and photos of the singer accompanied a recording of her 2005 hit Pon Da Replay, while Rihanna completed one of seven costume changes that took place throughout the gig.
The concert was the Barbadian singer’s third date since starting the UK leg of her Last Girl on Earth tour in Birmingham on Friday.
She is due to play nine more UK dates this month including Nottingham, Glasgow and Belfast.
The tour supports her fourth studio album, Rated R.
Rihanna slipped on stage just before performing her forthcoming single , Te Amo, but recovered to deliver flawless vocals surrounded by aerial acrobats.
She dedicated Take a Bow to “all the ladies in the house”, which was about 90% of the audience at the 22,000 capacity venue.
Picking up the pace for Live Your Life, her dance routine included numerous jerky head movements, causing the star’s famous fringe to cover her eyes for most of the track.
Several fans were overheard plotting to offer her their alice bands.
Tinchy Stryder provided support, followed by Pixie Lott who wore thigh-high black boots and a black dress with gold stars on it for her set which included hits Boys And Girls and Mama Do (Uh Oh Uh Oh).
She also performed a mini-mix of covers including Kings of Leon’s Use Somebody and The Killers When You Were Young.
Speaking afterwards most of the audience appeared impressed with the show.
Alex Dance, 24, from Leicestershire said: “Amazing costumes, amazing videos, amazing vocals. I am a Rihanna fan but I just didn’t realise how many huge hits she’d had until I heard them all together. Loved the Oasis cover, too.”
The gig ended with the star’s biggest hit to date, Umbrella, which managed to hold the number one spot for 10 weeks in 2007.
There was no need for waterproofs inside the domed venue, but the night came to a close with huge cloud of fluttering red ticker tape.
