New Video: Mary J. Blige – ‘Hood Love (ft. Trey Songz)’

Published: Friday 7th May 2010 by Sam

Mary J. Blige‘s video for new single ‘Hood Love’ premièred in its entirety moments ago. The Trey Songz assisted cut serves as the latest release from the Grammy winner’s ‘Stronger With Each Tear’ LP. Peep the Chris Robinson directed vid below…

Though I’ve silently been stewing over how badly Mary’s last few projects have been handled, as well as the actual quality of her output as well, I rather enjoyed the video. While being a concept done into the ground, the video still proved engaging, and definitely encapsulated the lyrical content of the song particularly well. Good stuff.

    @Sam — Now with everyone giving Chris Brown a hard time: questioning HIS judgement for singing the National Anthem, at a sporting event, such-as that Mayweather/Mosley boxing match; I-NOW-QUESTION the “rational”, ‘better-judgement’, and “logic” behind ‘Hood Love’.

    I guess we’re totally amnesic; I guess we’re totally ‘accepting-of-any-an-excuse’; forgiving if-not-understanding “bad behavior” based, not-only-on race, but also gender! …But-it-WAS, Mary J. Blige, who-was-seen, at HER Album-release party, in a Mid-town club, punching HER husband, in-the-face, drawing-his-blood in the process. I guess it wasn’t Mary J. Blige who-was reported, as-saying-thereafter: “What-ya-gonna-do, Chris-Brown me?”
    …I guess it wasn’t Mary J. Blige’s step-daughter who was “getting-stronger, with every punch,” as HER right-cross left HER significant-other, laying-on-concrete!
    …Both, aforementioned-instances of “Sista-Power” was captured on video for-ALL-to-see!

    @Sam ….. ‘Hood Love?!?!?’ ….. “No-love,” OF-ANY-SORT for 19 y/o black men, it seems ……….!!!!!

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT!!

    I agree with True.
    It was a lot better with Johnta and her Trey sort of messed it up.

    And when she did the song with johnta it was 3 years ago…. but anyway

    I’m so f****** hot over this. On one hand its a great video, on the other, I hate the fact that she didn’t stick to the album version of the damn song. Trey’s appearance seems random. Omg I don’t know what to feel right now. I was so anticipating see much more of Trey than was shown. Oh well what can you do.

    Mary sweetie you are told damn old for titles like “hood love”. I feel like this looks exactly like at least 5 of her other video.
    NEXT!

    I thought “Good Love” ft. T.I. was gonna be the next single. It should have been. I have a feeling this song will probably not last, similar to how Growing Pain’s “Stay Down” flopped after “Just Fine.” The video, while it has a solid story to it, it isn’t strong enough to help stimulate the song on the charts. I don’t know. “Tonight” is a great clubby track, maybe they could go with that one, but as of right now, people are starting to forget about Mary, she better fix her situation quick.

    Great video!

    The song is good alone and the video just makes it even better for those that understand it. Before I seen the video I played this song almost everyday on my CD player but now that the video is out it will become my crutch also. lol Mary always does a wonderful job in her music and Trey Songz is moving on up because “Ready” his new album is the #1 male hit if you ask me. I just wish that Trey Songz part is the song was a little longer, but overall great songz and great video!!
