I wouldn’t say she is this Generation’s James Brown, but simply Janelle. All these comparisons only tarnish her uniqueness. Her album is a gem in today’s industry. I can’t wait to hear what she’s going to next.

I agree with The Kiddz. It’s not that she can’t be as good as James or the other legendary artists she’s been compared to, it’s that she’s truly her own person. She’s not a copy or a version of anyone else, she’s just herself. Which is so refreshing in an era where everyone swagger-jacks each other and tries on a different image every five minutes because they don’t have an identity.

They shouldn’t set these artists up for a fall like this, calling them the next this, or that. Noting the influence is fine, and we all know she expresses that influence very well, but her career is still fresh.

meh, shes OK for me, I still think her album is over rated being that only a select few sngs are worth mentioning. But she is a fresh talent, a decent singer & performer & shes also creative & original for the most part. Glad shes getting more exposure. I wish both her & Solange Knowles the best of luck. Yay for the UNDER DOGS.

I guess her signature performance style consist of some “James Brown tapping” & moving across the stage as if one has turrets judging by her BET Awards performance. The BET Awards was good this year for a change compared to the last two, a mess.
