From what I can tell, Rihanna sings the way she sings purposely, the “yodeling” affect is designed to give her voice an edge, it’s a vocal affectation that makes her sound distinctive, just as Cher had an affectation when she when she carries her notes at the end, Michael Jackson had an affectation with, “he hee” , Whitney Houston uses one from time to time with, “Yay ee, ee ee” – it’s what she does.
Rihanna may not be your cup of tea, but GEEZ, get over it.
