Hmm. For all it’s pluses (see: radio friendly, instantly likable, and whatnot), the song proves somewhat problematic in the grand scheme of things. I mean, when posing the question of how this stands next to the material Minaj has been releasing not only as of late, but in her ‘building fanbase phase’, I’m left none-the-wiser as to what sound she is looking to establish as her own. At the minute, it’s seeming a bit ‘try everything and see what sticks’. Not bad, not great.

This will be a hit. It’s a song with a consistent theme. I don’t see Nicki being around for a long time at all, but I think she’ll do well with Pink Friday.
I dont know about this track, i understand she is trying to be well rounded but i need to hear something from her that will standout ( this is yet another “your love”) UGH!! The only track that’s popping from her right now is “Monster” she really stands out Kanye and Jay should have let this be a single of her’s alone. I’ve been defending Nicki sense her Mixtapes, but she has yet prove to me that she going to deliver, with her lip-sync performers, to her always signing boobs on stage and not giving us a show, she needs to realize that POP is not for everybody she needs to spit the track and have a POP artist do the hook n chorus not her. I actually like this song. I think I would like it a lot more if she didn’t already have a song of the same sort (Your Love, which is pure RUBBISH) and actually released some hard core hip hop with FIYAH lyrics. I’m starting to really not like her AT ALL. I already DESPISE her childish ass image, but I gave her a bit of credit with her decent verses on songs and now with her releasing ish like this is not helping at all!
If her album is full of songs like this, she won’t stand a chance by being mentioned in the same breath as Kim!

Just like the single Check It Out. Urban fans didn’t like that song, but most like it now that it has grown on them. Nicki is ahead of her time when it comes to her urban fans. Nicki is ascending to the levels of stadium status., Michael Jackson, Elton John, Whitney Houston, etc.
Ok this is what confuses me about her. Before I speak I will say, I am quite a big Nicki fan. Anyway, when I hear her verse on “Monster” and now this…I’m a bit confused. She can go so hard but then she does this, which is clearly album filler. I feel like shes a straight rap artist and should stay that way. I think people rather scream her verses with her than sing this or your love…my opinion.

I think that she should scrap this as a single (which it is going to be), although it’s good, and release a CRAZY rap track in late October/early November to get rap and pop fans to buy the album.

Terrible, generic s***. I have an open mind, and have given this girl many chances to impress me and justify her hype, but I just fail to see it. Weak flow, weak rhymes, there’s just NOTHING about her that makes her so hot to me. I’m not a Lil Kim fan, but at least she has actual rapping talent, something that Nicki is sorely lacking in my opinion. I just cannot hope on the Minaj bandwagon, sorry.

lol at everyone hating on nicki because she refuses to be confined to making pure rap songs. Time and time again, she has said that the music on this album is going be different than the music she has released in the past. She wants to explore and experiment with different genres of music and i don’t see anything wrong with that. Every artist needs to grow and evolve; Nicki has specifically said she doesn’t want to be pigeon-holed into making the same song over and over again. I do agree with some of you, including Sam, that these songs haven’t really established what Nicki’s particular “sound” is. She is kind of going all over the place with her sound but hopefully this is just a strategy in gaining a wider audience/fanbase than just her urban fans.
I do love the “hard” Nicki in songs like “Monster” and “My Chick Bad” but that doesn’t mean i can’t like when she does songs like this. This doesn’t mean her album will be entirely pop-influenced and it also means she’s more versatile than other rappers today.

This song is so weak! Just like Your Love and Massive attack. I hope the rest of her album sounds different, honestly so far the only track that I can say she straight killed it on is Monster.

So I think the song is lame. Like Nicki and a lot of her material but this is not the best. It’s mediocre at best. Her vocals are okay but it still reeks of either auto tune or singing as if she’s connected to auto tune. The hook is fun the first time but after the repetitious “how do yous” it becomes annoying. I am all for being versatile and exploring and exercising your talent but this cut cast a shadow over all her other achievements.
I cant wait to hear her album though. Nicki fans breathe and stop everything is not for everyone and everyone is entitled to an opinion, STOP GOING FOR PEOPLES JUGGULAR…..LMMFAO
