As the controversy over Keri Hilson‘s video for ‘The Way You Love Me’ rages on, the singer’s full interview with Perez Hilton has surfaced.
Seemingly unfazed by the mounting critique, a defensive Hilson slammed the media for their “double standards”, adding that she’s “a freak” who sometimes just wants to be “f*cked”. Her words not ours.

Really, though. Who is Keri Hilson?
No shade intended, yet that is the question I ultimately found myself asking after watching the video and now seeing this interview. I mean, for the better part of two years she’s been attempting to carve out a somewhat classy and sophisticated image for herself. Yet at the drop of a coin, she’s begging to be “f*cked”?
To be such a renown song-writer herself, the messages her own music conveys is schizophrenic to say the least. I’m still baffled as to how such a rancid song follows on from the elementary, yet brilliant ‘Pretty Girl Rock’. Really, which label exec ‘green-lighted’ that? For based on this interview, even Hilson hasn’t a clue as to what she’s trying to say musically nor who her target market are. One minute it’s the uplifting music for the kids and the women, the next it’s p*ssy-popping on a pole. Somehow both are apparently “empowering”.
Still, it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Will this help her ‘No Boys Allowed’ album sales? Will it elevate her to that all-important “next level”? Time will tell.
Randomness: Did anyone else gag when Hilson told Hilton “true beauty comes from the inside”? Oh the irony.

Why is everyonce so up in arms about the song? Keri hilson is a grown a$$ women and from what i take from this video, the song is NOT a single nor will the video be released anywhere other than world star hip hop. The fact that she was singing “thug me” and not “F@ck me” in the video and didnt know they would sync the explicit version with the vidoe does baffle me though. Why would they do that and more importantly, why didnt she know they would do that?
Do I think the video could have been a little more subtle? Yes.

To certain degree I will extend to her the benefit the doubt, as there is probably an array o things that these various performers are dying to express and can’t because it’s out of sync with a carefully-concocted image that these record execs craft for them.
