Kanye West Set To Release 2 Albums This Year

Published: Monday 24th Jan 2011 by Trent

If you thought Kanye West was getting ready to slow down then think again. The Hip-Hop visionary has announced his intentions to release his 6th studio album this summer. Furthermore, the West also has plans to drop a joint project with his mentor, Jay-Z, entitled ‘Watch The Throne’, in 2 months.

However, don’t expect West to give up on his platinum-certified ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ just yet as the video for his new single, ‘All Of The Lights (Ft. Rihanna, John Legend, The-Dream, Ryan Leslie, Tony Williams, Charlie Wilson, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Fergie, Kid Cudi & Elton John)’, premieres next month.

he needs to sit down…he’s not making anything epic, sorry! his music is so self absorbed, i’m surprised people still buy into it. his ego is tooooooo big and i’ma feel bad for him when he loses fans because of it.

All of the lights shud be a good international single. I hope the 2nd single from Watch The Throne will be more of an anthem type than HAM. And for his 6th studio album, I would like to hear him go back to some of his old stuff. But Go Kanye!

  4. Chris January 24, 2011

Kanye will Definitely be up for some awards this year!!!! Go Mr.West 😀

  5. Music Lover January 24, 2011

I feel a lil bitter by this. ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ is a masterpiece. I think she should put more effort promoting it world wide. this album still has a lot of potential to sell beyond its selling now.

where is the official Monster Video?

“All the Lights ” should have been a single?

When will he go on tour?

  6. Reasonable Voice January 24, 2011

I find it funny Rated R and Kanye’s recent albums were both certified Platinum (so far Rated R has sold more overall), yet Rihanna was repeatedly bashed for putting out an album a year later, calling her songs “fast food music”, and desperate to remain relevant. But with Kanye it’s a different story. Sam and Trent are pathetic hypocrites.

What happened to BDTF album promotion? it\s a very good album.
What happened to the finished Monster video? Um, All of The Lights is a good song but I don’t see it doing that well. By the time he drops the video his Watch The Throne album would be out. I feel so over whelmed by all this and it’s not even me…..lol

So going platinum after two months is flopping? Dumbass. Don’t act like your fave will be ruling the charts forever, for all you know someday people will be making fun of her for flopping.

Why are people so against artists realeasing multiple albums in short amounts of time?? If they feel that they have some great material and want to share it with the public then I’m all for it, especially if it’s from Kanye. I can never get enough music from this man, and YESSSS MBDTF is an absolute masterpiece.

*Blinks Eye*….I thought we were talking about Kanye? How in the hell did another album get into this conversation?….Anyways, Im not to sure about this guy. If he releases an album better than College Dropout and Late Registration, then Im all ears.

Actually he has sold 915,000 in the states so far.. and remember, he sold close to 500,000 in the first week and yeh for a big name, because that what he is… its a flop! Everyone knows who he is… everyone knows how highly he thinks of himself.

Taylor isnt cocky, shes a very sweet girl, and no she wont rule the charts forever, but she will be known as a person who doesnt think they’re gods best creation.

  19. Mari January 24, 2011

Ok, maybe the project he’s doing with Jay will come out this year, but I don’t think he’s going to release another full length studio, Kanye West LP by the summer. Ye’s done this before, when after one or two months following the release of “808’s” he said that another album was coming out in the summer, and it never materialized.

The only album I have of his is Graduation, and it isn’t like 808’s didn’t come out a year after Graduation. So it wouldn’t be surprising if he released another album in the fall.

But the raw pain is what makes that album so great. It came from the heart. My only gripe with that album is the Auto-Tune.

    @ Daniel:

He’s been cocky since day one. So he should’ve been “flopping” ages ago. And it’s nice to know that people buy music based on personality and not quality or talent, so that explains Taylor’s appeal. Thanks for confirming what I’ve known all along.

  22. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

I highly doubt that. I remember that MBDTF (it was Good Ass Job at the time) was supposed to come out in June of 2009 and look how that turned out.

I do feel sure that Watch the Throne will come out in March, though.

  23. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

Platinum is not a flop. And since when was Taylor Swift humble?

  24. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@ True blue No, he shouldnt have been flopping ages ago at all.. people can someone being cocky for sometime, but after awhile people get tired of it… its like if some person annoys you.. you’ll take it for awhile.. but theres only so much you take, before you tell them to stop!
Trueblue, you seem to always bring Taylor into every blog i comment on.. like if i say something negative.. you’ll bring up taylor.. could you not change the tune for gods sake!!
Shes only one artist i like.. shes not my whole life… and people dont buy music based just on the likeability of the artist, but if they come across nice, im gonna be more likely to buy their music.

He isnt Platinum in the states yet…. based on the actual sales.

  26. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

    No, no she isn’t.

And besides, that isn’t what sales are based off of. Certifications are awarded when that album ships 500,000, 1 million, or a number of multiple million copies.

  27. Drew January 24, 2011

  29. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

Yeah, they’re awarded based on the shipments… but thats not really a good indication on how much the albums sold really.. some shops buy way to many albums for the demand, and it makes artists, look more popular then they really are.

  30. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

I was just wondering what you guys thought of this. I was reading this poll somewhere online this morning and it was asking which pop stars grow with each record – you were able to choose three of the following:

I said Beyonce, P!nk, and Gaga.

  31. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

  32. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

    @ Daniel:

I bring up Taylor when it is relevant, and in this case it is relevant because I know your dislike of Kanye is because of what happened at the 2009 VMAs. Otherwise you wouldn’t care that much.

And lots of talented musicians are cocky, do all of them flop and lose fans when their music still remains of interest? Your logic is dumb. You forget that prior to Taylor he did go up onstage at the EMAs and interrupted a group he lost out to. Did his albums flop then? No. He’s been known to publicly throw tantrums for not winning awards. Did he flop then? No. And he’s always turned lots of people off with his arrogance, but it has never affected his music sales because his fans know by now not to expect humility and graciousness from him, all we expect from him is good music, and that’s it. When he stops delivering the goods on the music front, that’s when we’ll move on from him.

  33. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

Omg, taylor swift is meantion again…. Taylor swift album has sold 3 million and 48 thousand copies in the states… not shipments… and is still in the top 3… so its still selling.

  34. Imanni January 24, 2011

IDK I think All of The Lights could be a hit(its my fave off the album)not just cause of Rihanna but cause its a good song. Im not sure if ill be checking for that collabo;I have to hear more singles cause HAM didnt do it for me. As far as him putting out another album as long as its goog ill support. I agree it is too soon but hey it is what it is. I have all his albums and so far I havent been disappointed.

@Reasonable Voice Im not a Rih fan but I agree it is hypocritical of them call her out and not Kanye.

@Beysobreezy LOL you sound just like my sis. I was listening to 808’s one day in the car and she was like “WTF IS THIS”. It is a depressing album but diffrent I guess thats why I like it

@Taylor Yea I admit his HUGE EGO is sometimes a turnoff but I love his music so much that I sometimes overlook it. But I aint gonna deny that my fave has an ego problem lol

  35. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

I dont just disliike him because of that… He’s helped taylor if anything.. obviously i was annoyed at him, but if you look at other comments on this blog…. you will see others saying his cocky.. i just dont like cocky people.
Nope, he didnt flop then.. but that wasnt as high profile as what he did to taylor, because taylor is a young girl, and Im just bringing up the fact.. for all his cockness.. he isnt selling that well really is he??? Looks like his fans are getting tired now. Remember..this came out over christmas time aswell.. when sales are at the highest.. and still hasnt managed to pass 1 million…

  40. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

Not to be rude, but are you a 12-year-old or something? Your way of speech on this site and thought process is frankly, very juvenile.

The only reason I didn’t include Rihanna in that is because she’s grown to a lesser extent than the other 3. Rihanna grew with each record until Loud. It’s hard to classify, simply because I think Loud is her best record but also because it’s so different than Rated R. Although, in my opinion, Loud is her best record, she never seems to put enough feeling into upbeat music which was paramount following such an emotional record like Rated R.

  41. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@RihannaForever Im not 12.. nope. How is my thought process juvenile, when i just explained my reasons for using actual sales firgures and not shipments.. if anything im the one whos the adult thinking person here!!.. but okay thats your opinion.

You were asking who would pay money to see someone lip-sync for two hours. Did you really think you weren’t gonna get dragged when you questioned Janet’s talent with a name like yours?

And I have never denied Kanye’s arrogance, I call him out for his cocky behavior just the same. Other people calling him cocky isn’t the point. The point is you’re still smarting over the VMA incident, because he had the nerve to interrupt your fave. And Kanye has pulled stunts that were just as high profile. Remember the Hurricane Katrina telethon? If his arrogance was enough to bring down his album sales, he would’ve flopped long ago. Going platinum in two months isn’t flopping, and there are more believable reasons for his album not selling more than him being cocky.

    @ RF:

I completely agree with you. See, you’re too rational to be a stan.

  46. RihannaForever January 24, 2011

I actually get that quite a lot.

  47. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@ In my opinion Janet is over rated… and yeh you can say taylor is too.. but then shes not seen as a legend.. and obviously rightly so.. but for a person that mimes loads, has an average at best voice and doesnt play instruments that you can see when shes proforms her songs…. yeh she dances.. but what the f*** has dancing got to do with the lyrics to a song.. theres no connection.. its all for show.. nothing more.

Yeh okay, i see you point, that said, i dont like his music anyways.. except the song he did with twister.. Slow Jamz. and the one with brandy.

  48. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

    @ Daniel:

Her music, videos and skills as a performer are why she’s considered legendary, not to mention the fact she’s influenced plenty of today’s pop stars. No different than Madonna, do you question her popularity as well?

And what the f*** does dancing have to do with a song? Oh, it’s got a LOT to do with a song when the songs are made for dancing! And what would be the point of her making videos for those songs and performing them if all she was gonna do is stand there and sing? Might you apply that same logic to her brother, Prince, Madonna as well as other popular artists of their era? BTW, I see you on Britney posts, and you never say anything negative about her when all she does is lip-sync, and doesn’t even dance well. Care to explain the bias?

And so what she doesn’t play instruments? Since when was playing instruments a requirement for being a credible artist?

  49. kavion January 24, 2011

Seriously, the s*** that comes out your mouth.
Taylor isn’t in any way creative. She tells the same damn story with each record.
Yes she’s a great songwriter, but not a very versatile songwriter.
Besides songwriting, there’s honestly nothing special about her.

I must admit though, Madonna is vastly over rated.
She’s a icon because of her image, not her talent.

    And as for Madonna, meh…

  52. kavion January 24, 2011

I mean she’s great at the subject that she writes about.
Like someone could be a great horror movie writer, for example.
However if they can only write horror movies, I would definantly not call them versatile

  53. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

“I like britney, but shes mines to much.. which makes me go of her. She still has a huge fan base though, that will stick by her.. so i can see her album doing well, when it comes out.”

@kavion Omg, another person bringing taylor into it and Please god, saying Madonna is vastly over rated, when she wrote 10 of her 12 number 1’s in the uk.. thats nothing more to be said,

  56. kavion January 24, 2011

I have to applaud her for her growing up in Speak Now.
Though it sounded VERY forced. She seemed like she was trying to be like “Look, i’m a lot more mature now” I mean she went from songs about being fifteen to marriage in one record?

“you never say anything negative about her” will you eat your words now?

Writing isn’t everything. The quality of your music needs to be great.
Souljah boy and Gucci Mane write their own lyrics, yet their horrible.
Who cares if Madonna writes her own songs? They lack substance and her vocals are lackluster, period. Also I was actually giving Taylor credit, but in a honest way.

Different indeed..lol, but I completely understand why he would feel that way since he lost his mother or in Kanyes’ words, “The Only Girl In The World That Knew Him Best”. I dont know what I would do without my mother.

    I agree…

  60. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@kavion Kavion, obvious the songs must be good, if they hit number 1.. and this was in the 80’s where the music is actually seen as better then now days.. Madonna’s wrote a lot of love songs..plus most of janets songs are songs to dance to.. and most of theose kind of songs dont have substance.. i say most!

I admit taylor isnt a good singer.. shes just an average one… and her songs aint to mature… but im not saying shes a legened. i just like her.

  61. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

    @ Kavion:

Yeah, and you can notice her slip back into her immaturity, like the song “Mean”, for instance.

I didn’t mind her lyrics at all when she was writing those songs at 15, 16, but now she’s 21. I expect better songwriting. Didn’t Mariah write/co-write her songs on her first record when she was like, 20? And Hayley Williams from Paramore, she’s been writing songs from a teenager’s point of view since she was 16, but even those lyrics are more mature than Taylor’s.

    @ Daniel:

I made one comment before you in that post, and I promptly left. I didn’t even stick around to read the other posts. Also, I’ve already explained to you how her dancing relates to her music.

  62. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

    Also Janet writes songs too.

  63. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@true blue.. Yeh so i have made a negative comment about britney miming aswell as janet, so when you try and make out that im just saying it for artist that i dont like.. and not talking about it when one of my favs does.. that is a lie.. if taylor swift started miming, i would say so.

  64. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

@True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue Okay, well i guess i’ll never see why shes thought of as a legend, but then that word is used so much… next it will be used in the same sentance as rihanna or taylor… actually i’d rather see rihanna then janet. no lie.

  65. mark ginnis January 24, 2011

YEAH!!! “All of the lights” is a good song!

  66. kavion January 24, 2011

Madonna’s songs lack substance, she can’t sing, she has times where she literally shows zero class. She doesn’t wow me as a performer, she’s ovverated.
Her VMA performance is the only one of hers that gives me chills.
    Look at this woman:

Exactly, she’s showing little growth. It’s getting old.
Usher had songs with sexual inuendos at SIXTEEN so why can’t Taylor at least show some adulthood? I like that she’s so relatable, but when everyone of your anologies are references to a fairytale, there’s a problem

  67. kavion January 24, 2011

Also, like a G6 hit number one, is that a good song?

  68. True Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Blue January 24, 2011

    @ Kavion:

LOL, well I’m not asking for Taylor to start writing sexual songs, but I do want to see her writing songs like an adult, not like a little girl. I mean, it’s cute on one song or two, it shows precociousness, but when 90% of your songs are written in that style, it makes me wonder if she’s really grown up at all.

But I wouldn’t say that all of Madonna’s songs lack substance. Frozen, Papa Don’t Preach, Take A Bow, The Power of Goodbye, just to name a few, don’t lack substance at all.

  69. Taylor swifts number 1 fan January 24, 2011

Haha. love that clip… I think this shows her in a good light though.. doesnt that show tthat shes just one of us… aka your average person having a laugh? you wouldnt see mariah do that. or would you rather see someone who holds back infront of the camera to be seen in a good light?
If you looked at all the songs that have made the charts.. you would see how many well known songs she has.

  74. Jerz3000 January 24, 2011

Smh, none of you understand an artist’s mind. Its all politics with you people! Apparently Kanye is producing so much music becuase he is inspired to do so. The only reason that it seems bizzar is that he has the platform to actually release all the music he is making on a global scale. Good for him I say.

Kanye is far from the 1st artist to produce at such a rapid pace. Stevie Wonder had a run simmilar to this. So did Prince, 2pac; and let’s not forget his Big Bro Jay-Z, who averaged at 1 album every 7 months in his prime. As long as the music is from the heart, which it has been since the begining of his career, what’s there to gripe about?

Thats what i was saying, the song is horrible yet it’s a number one hit.
    Numbers don’t mean anything.
& lmao that clip does NOT show she’s just one of us, most of us wouldn’t be doing that s*** in public

I was just using Usher as an example lol..and I know she has songs with substance, but most of them aren’t hits & TWN1F was talking about hits

I was hoping Kanye focus on promoting MBDTF for a while. That has so many great songs I’d like to see become singles. I wonder what the rush is all about. I don’t care for him teaming up with Jay already, now on top of that he’s releasing another album. Too much, Ye’ ! Don’t be a jack of all trades when your a king. It’s great to get your hands on new music (especially if it’s good), but don’t let it kill the momentum your building with the album you have out right now.

an artist personality and personal life should have nothing to do with the end product….unless his ego has personally hurt your feelings i say get over it…he makes great music with really good lyrical content for a mainstream rapper…why don’t you attack a rapper that deserves it like waka flocka or gucci mane and be happy there are a few good rapper out there trying new stuff, switching it up and producing good stuff….if you want his old sh*t buy his old album #HOVA

  90. Aaliyah January 24, 2011

and people complain on Rih mybitch releasing albums every year? Hm. However, I am actually looking forward to see some now music from Kanye ALTHOUGH he could have milked so many sales from MBDTF with just a little more promotion and singles. Hmmm.
