With the season premiere of American Idol around the corner, new judge Jennifer Lopez appears to be actioning a flood of the meda scape. Amidst a sea of new material surfacing from her this week, another new cut has hit the net – this time the full version of ‘Venus’.
Produced by Red One, the song serves as the theme for the diva’s new Gillette Venus TV campaign and is, as you may have guessed, a cover of Shocking Blue‘s 1960’s hit of the same name.

However, unlike much of her recent material, the problem lay more with the track inherently being a cheese-fest as opposed to anything to do with Lopez herself. If anything, the 40 year old’s latest offerings ‘Good Hit’ and ‘On The Floor’ are ample evidence that she’s rediscovered her mojo (or at least her A&R has) and that a chart comeback (particularly in light of her American Idol gig) may be around the corner.
