From The Vault: Christina Aguilera – ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ (Live In Australia)

Published: Sunday 13th Feb 2011 by Trent

With her performance at this evening’s 53rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on the horizon, what better way is there to build buzz for the show than with a From The Vault selection of one of Christina Aguilera’s most memorable moments? If it’s excitement you want then you’ll feel it with ‘Ain’t Not Other Man’.

This rendition of the song is taken from Aguilera’s ‘Back to Basics: Live and Down Under’ showcasing the Australian leg of her ‘Back To Basics’ tour. The studio version of the track was released the 1st single from her platinum-certified ‘Back To Basics’ LP 2006 and peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

What was impressive about this performance was the fact that Aguilera was belting yet easily keeping up with the choreography. A talent like hers is incredibly rare and although many may argue that she has since passed her prime, it would be difficult to find a comparable act in the younger crop of today’s performers.

Here is hoping that Aguilera can deliver such an effortless vocal showing at this evening’s Grammy Awards. With Jennifer Hudson and Yolanda Adams sharing the same stage, she has to bring her best if she wishes to stand out.

Sidebar: Aguilera will be singing Aretha Franklin’s ‘Ain’t No Way’ and this song is called ‘Ain’t No Other Man’. Coincidence?

Thoughts?

    That was far too edited to see weather it was from the one live showing and not the result of post production…
    Not that she can’t sing live. But her vocals were just too perfect for all that movement…

  2. hoo February 13, 2011

    finally a positive Christina post!!!! the fact that she can dance gives her one up on Mariah.

  3. UGh February 13, 2011

    the girl has one of the best voices out there right not. she just needs to learn how to control it.

  4. Bryan February 13, 2011

    These days she tends to over sing i love her but she needs to take it dwn a bit & let the beauty of her voice shine

  5. TIMMI February 13, 2011

    Nice to see this blog finally throwing some mild form of positivity in Christina’s direction, because all around, she is a talented vocalist and artist and deserves to be cut some slack.

    I agree with GALUDA though: this, like all DVDs, has been highly edited and it isn’t safe to say this is an accurate reflection of Christina’s talent, although there are plenty other live showings you could have found.

  6. February 13, 2011

    Love her, but she really needs to stop it with the oversinging.

  7. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    LEGEND AND ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  8. GangsterA February 13, 2011

    that was a great peformance but at some point we were hearing xtina voice but she wasn’t holding the mic and it wasn’t the playback Hmmmm………

  9. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    @GANGSTERA

    the live dvd isnt like that, as usual youtube has “out of synced the video”

  10. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    why do people always complain about her “oversinging” ?

    since 99 she has always sang like this, yall act like suddenlt over night she just started singing like this, it’s been 11 years now, put up and shut up, jeez

  11. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    “why does brit lipsync” no one says it anymore, everyone knows thats that she does it but god, 10 years have passed, she did it then and she did it now and were over it, move on and stop finding an xcuse to b****…..

  12. the kiddz February 13, 2011

    It’s obvious that she’s lipping. A good portion of that DVD is, she could never belt notes with the same clarity as she does in the studio.

  13. FUTURESTARdelux February 13, 2011

    WOW did Trent just say something positive about XTina? lol… I really don’t get all the hatred directed at her at the moment just because everybody is so far up Gaga’s ass.
    IMO XTina is a FAR better artist than Gaga not just because she is vastly superior vocally but also becuase like Gaga she co writes a lot of her songs but the difference is that most of Christina’s songs actually have a meaning and you can connect with them in an emotional way that you can’t with songs like “Poker Face”, “Just Dance” or “Alejandro” and she never steals music from other people wither which Gaga has done many times.

    Also i think it’s unfair to say she’s “past her prime” sure she had one flop album that doesn’t mean she’s over, as an artist that takes time and puts her all into creating an album over a period of time that reflects what she is into not just what is hot XTina will come back stronger than ever once she’s sorted her personal problems out.

    Having said that i do think she needs to see a vocal coach to learn more controll because that is the only thing that she loses out to people like Beyonce with, Christina has the better voice and if she learned to controll it better she would be unstopable.

    P.S most people who’ve seen her rehearsing for the Aretha thing have said she sounds great and is nailing it 😀

    P.S “Aguilera will be singing Aretha Franklin’s ‘Ain’t No Way’ and this song is called ‘Ain’t No Other Man’. Coincidence?” < what is the coincidence? you're the one that put this song in the post… lol

  14. Queen XXXTina February 13, 2011

    Another coincidence: Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way” has similar lyrics with Aguilera’s “Impossible” that Alicia Keys wrote for her. 🙂

  15. GangsterA February 13, 2011

    @futurestar see your complaing about why pepole hate on xtina but yet youre the first one to throw shade at other artists (ie beyonce)

  16. Danielle February 13, 2011

    @ Galuda…. Her voice is ALWAYS perfect through out her live shows, there was no editing… I saw this tour live twice and she was incredible….and pregnant too.

  17. DION-ISH February 13, 2011

    I Saw this on TV….She did REALLY good!! Great performer….

  18. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    @GANGSTERA

    read the post again sweetie, there is nothing shading bey in his post

  19. SparkD February 13, 2011

    Ah-mazing! She tore it up!

  20. Hudson Morrigan February 13, 2011

    Christina’s voice has been on steady decline for a while
    That DVD performance is far too edited, her real live performances are often quite off pitch
    Though in this performance I hear her typical straining choking sound
    Awful.
    I would expect someone who is called the greatest singer ever to be able to sing without sounding like a mad cow being slaughtered.

  21. luis February 13, 2011

    @GALUDA – if you think they fixed her voice, then go on youtube and search ain’t no other man mtv movie awards 2006.

  22. TRGreaves February 13, 2011

    I have to say..this was a great performance!

  23. Nichole February 13, 2011

  25. the kiddz February 13, 2011

    @Hello B******

    I don’t know how many times @Nichole has to say it, but she is not a fan of Avril. She just likes the damn picture. And why do people feel the need to think you’re opinion doesn’t matter, due to the person in your gravatar?

  26. Dave February 13, 2011

    Yessss, People forget Chrissy is a bad ass b****. She be throwin the f DOWNE! I believer there is hope for her to make a successful return. I would recommended her get vocal training, even though she DOES do vocal warmups & scales (which people think she doesn’t). I just hope it doesn’t alter her voice because I love the power & how her voice sounds. I just think it’s funny when someone has a bad point, everyone wants to throw shade as if everyone’s life is perfect from start to finish. At the end of the day, the woman is woman. She makes mistake’s, & has down’s as well as ups. Even if her album did flop, the quality of it was exceptional. Why is it ALWAYS about sales? Just like the “Burlesque” soundtrack was on POINT! It was one of the best releases of 2010 & it came out @ the very end, as well as the best releases of the decade in my honest opinion. The woman is talented, & blessed. & with some more hard work, admittance of her vocal limits, time, & determination she will snap back & PUNCH! I have faith in her 🙂

  27. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    *slaps self across the face*

    ugh I just spoke to haters, I needs to stop doin that, anyway

    yes, she is a legend everyone I agree, icon, legend, beauty.

    Tonight is one of the biggest moments in her career, tributing arguably the greatest snger in the world,I wish her ALL the luck in the world

  28. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    *BOWS DOWN TO EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAID*

    Imma have to startin stannin for you too boo

  29. hello b****** February 13, 2011

    @DAVE

    when Mariah flopped with glitter (movie) and glitter (album) which were both disasters, people said she was over.

    thinkin back, isnt that ridiculous that people would assume she was over because of 1 bad album, even though she is an amazing singer, just like Xtina is,….

    people are still saying Mariah is over now because her last 3 albums flopped worldwide but…

    Like I keep sayin, talent always wins.

    😉

  30. B Lamont February 13, 2011

    @ Queen XXXTina:

    That’s exactly what I was gonna say about Impossible. That song is way more similar than Aint No Other Man. I believe Alicia Keys says that Aint No Way was the inspiration to Impossible. It would be cool if she incorporated that into her tribute to Aretha.

  31. Laurie February 13, 2011

    Now that’s what I am talking about !!!! One word CONTROL !! She had perfect control of her voice here and you can tell it was effortless plus the dance was totally on point.

    Xtina’s voice to sound amazing needs control this video is the perfect exemple !! but when she’s going all over the place then you have the superbowl performance.

  32. JB February 13, 2011

    @hello b******

    I couldn’t agree more with you. Christina has always had her signature of runs and people try to act like it’s something new.

  33. FUTURESTARdelux February 13, 2011

    @GANGSTERA, i can throw shade at Bey coz i can also accept the bad things about those i stan for like Christina can be a b****. I speak the truth and if you can’t handle it that’s tough s***. I will give any artist the props they deserve E.G Beyonce is a great singer and performer but that doesn’t change the fact that she is dumb, a thief and shady as f***.

    Exactly!

    & lol @ stannin for me. Alright nah.. lol

  36. Dave February 13, 2011

    Oh yeah… let’s not forget “Bionic” was on POINT as well. When people said she was “following a trend” when she started working on the album as early as late 2007, & even showing signs of the progressing “futuristic” sounds with the release of the single “Keep Gettin’ Better” & the greatest hits album of such. & that album not only did NOT follow the trend, it incorporated VARIOUS different sounds, & genre’s. But… because people are so idiotic & hate her so much they didn’t even listen to the album before making judgment & stating an opinion. & this in my reasoning, is why “Bionic” was hailed as best pop album of 2010! Christina knows what she’s doing. She’s 1 of the best artist, & vocalist currently out. Her albums are masterpiece’s & she will continue to make quality music (whether soulful, or through an array of various genre’s & sounds).

  37. the kiddz February 13, 2011

    @FUTURESTARDELUX

    Do you need to get dragged, again?! Funny how you call her dumb, when she’s smart enough to own you.

  38. FUTURESTARdelux February 13, 2011

    @THEKIDDZ do i need to get dragged again? by who coz i know it aint you lmao you’re like a fly buzzin around me on every post wtf is with that? LOL…
    Everybody knows Bey is dumb find me one interview where she sounds like she knows anything worth knowing about ANYTHING and then there’s the fact she’s too dumb to even cover her theivery up propperly.

  39. theman1 February 13, 2011

    Mariahs albums did not flop in the states though. The last 3 that is. While they weren’t blockbusters they did decently for her, and were all certified. Nobody is saying nothing about her being over, because that is far from the truth. She’s a megastar !!!!

  40. sane beyhanna stan February 13, 2011

    Amazingg!!

  41. the kiddz February 13, 2011

    @Future

    Yes, by me. You never responded to my question the other day. Where you foolishly said Beyonce fans were the dumbest. O_O And there are plenty of interviews where she speaks well enough. I’m sure you have a couple saved. She’s not a politician whose words need to be dissected and analysed.

  42. FUTURESTARdelux February 13, 2011

    @THEKIDDZ, yes i did answer that question ONCE but unfortunetely i need to sleep and can’t stay up all night waiting for you to reply and then sifting through the hundreds of overnight comments to find yours the next day.
    Yes Bey speaks perfectly well in interviews (some might say so well to the point that she has no personality in most of them) but lets not pretend like she is sat there talking about issues of any importance like Shakira, Cyndi Lauper or even gaga do.
    All Beyonce talks about is her myriad of re releases, Derion and whatever she’s pimping at the time which is hardly challenging conversation.

  43. ~aMaZiNG.Lee~ February 13, 2011

    LOL @ FutureStar!

    “but lets not pretend like she is sat there talking about issues of any importance like Shakira, Cyndi Lauper or even gaga do.”

    So that somehow indicates that one is dumb just because they don’t talk about issues of any importance? She’s an ENTERTAINER. She isn’t REQUIRED to speak about “important issues.” And if that was the case, then is Britney, Christina, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and others “dumb” as well?

    You’re so obsessed with “attempting” to shade Beyonce, that your reaching goes further than the space between the sun and neptune. But what else is new with you and your pressed-ness?

  44. FUTURESTARdelux February 14, 2011

    ^ B**** please we ALL know Beyonce is dumb as f*** i don’t even need to prove it lol.

  45. Chile Please!! February 14, 2011

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS! She did her thang! Werk b****!!! She gave me life & energy!! Okay b****!

  46. Luke February 14, 2011

    I remeber her “Aint no other man’s first performance” in MTV movie award….she got me amazed and dazzle by her voice I do also remeber for the first time I hear her voice I though she was Whitney.hehehe…My friend used to call her “White Whitney or Honkey Whitney”
    Tell me now, Is there some white female singer who oversings powerfully like Christina Aguilera?I guess not…so think downside when you say something about it…can’t you see ( cokc sucker and liker c** Hudson Morrigan)she’s born to sing…..Why was she invited to pay a tribue to Aretha?I’ll stop right away cuz you’re a brainless person you never undestand the “The Power of her Voice”..but I see c*** sucker you’re the most Christina Aguilera’a fan cuz you always make comments about her.hehe…idiot!
    Luv ya,Black soul…go aguilera cuz you are the power!
