Mathew Knowles Releases Statement On No Longer Managing Beyonce

Published: Tuesday 29th Mar 2011 by Sam

As reported early this morning, Beyonce‘s much documented business relationship with her father Mathew Knowles has been dissolved. Announced today in a statement on behalf of the singer, it was confirmed that the controversial Knowles will no longer serve as the superstar’s manager – after guiding her career since childhood.

Perhaps in a bid to counter suggestion of a rift (or just to save face), the 60 year old has released a statement regarding the matter.

Find out what he had to say after the jump…

The decision for Beyoncé and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual. We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment. Currently, I am very focused on the tremendous investment that our record label has made in the gospel/inspirational genre of music and on our supremely talented roster of artists, including Trin-i-tee 5:7, Brian Courtney Wilson, Juanita Bynum, Micah Stampley, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Pastor Rudy and others.

Music World will continue its partnership with Sony with Destiny’s Child and UK female group From Above, as well as management. We will also continue to develop the Music World family of labels: Music World Country/Compadre, Music World Kids and Music World Music. In Music World’s repositioning it will not continue its label/management role with Columbia/Sony artist Tiffany Evans.

Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success.

I’m still literally in shock; and more so eager to see how this all plays out. Beyonce’s talent, drive, and hustle is second to none in the industry today. That much is a given.

Yet, for those rightfully drawing comparison to Janet Jackson‘s ‘Control’ episode with Joe Jackson, or even Michael‘s sacking of their infamous father – both experienced the height of their fame after to letting him go. Beyonce, on the other hand, has achieved her highest highs with Mathew in her corner. Indeed, anyone who knows her backstory well, knows he’s been almost militant in ensuring that she becomes the star she is today (even at the expense of her own band-mates).

Put simply, for many, it’s hard to see Beyonce become any bigger than she is already. And if the way isn’t up, it’s….

Still, who knows. Bouncy could surprise folk by taking her brand to new heights on her own. If the soundbites we’ve been hearing about the direction of her album are anything to go by, along with her rumoured partnering with hubby Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation, she seems to have been preparing to go it alone for some time now.

Only time will tell if the right decision has been made. One thing is for certain, though. Ms. Knowles-Carter’s forthcoming project just became that much more interesting.

Tidbit: Is anyone else a little spooked at how at the end of the press releases for Kelly, Michelle, and now Beyonce’s departures, Mathew reaffirms his managerial responsibility for Destiny’s Child?! I guess any hope of a DC3 renunion will remain just that until they collectively dissolve their relationship with him. An occurrence which is looking more like a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.
