If new reports are to be believed, Nicki Minaj may the latest name to join the X Factor USA judging panel.

Hip-Hop sensation Nicki Minaj is in talks with Simon Cowell to be a judge on his upcoming Fox talent show “The X Factor,” Page Six has learned.
The Queens-bred star, famous for her wild and outlandish outfits and impossibly curvy figure, met with Cowell in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. A source told us, “Simon thinks Nicki is fantastic. She’s sassy, she looks great and she has bags of personality.
“Nicki has a large following and she fits well with the ethos of the show, which plans to usher in a new generation of musical talent. ‘X Factor’ is aiming for a younger audience. Those aged 12 and over can audition, and [the English version has] launched successful artists from other genres of music than pop.
“This isn’t a done deal yet, but Nicki would be great for the show. She fits the ideal that ‘X Factor’ will be exciting, vibrant and different. And the show would also be great for her career.”
Former Island Def Jam Music Group chairman L.A. Reid — who launched major acts including Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, the Killers, Bon Jovi, Pink, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna — was last night confirmed as one of the stars on the much-speculated-about judging panel.
Other names being considered to join Cowell on the panel include Tommy Mottola, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and British pop star Cheryl Cole. Sources said Cowell is still deciding on the right mix of judges, and Minaj, who’s now touring with Lil Wayne, could be a good complement to the more experienced Reid and Mottola.
Auditions for the show, which starts on Fox in the fall, will begin on March 27 in LA. Solo artists age 12 and over and vocal groups will battle for a $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. A rep for Cowell and “The X Factor” wouldn’t comment on Minaj, saying it was “early speculation.” Minaj’s reps didn’t get back to us.
If the UK version of the show is anything to go by, Simon and LA Reid fulfil the ‘industry’ aspect of the panel, ultimately leaving two open slots – one for a seasoned female artist and one up-and-comer. Needless to say, Ms. Minaj would fit quite effortlessly into the latter – and more than anything would be a great judge. Time will tell if she makes the cut.

Anyways, I’m speaking from what is likely an executive’s mindset. They could care less about talent; it’s neither here nor there in this case. I’m not going to argue with you right now over whether or not Nicki has talent because I think she does, and you believe that she doesn’t; it’s a pointless discussion that will lead us to nowhere. But you’d be lying to yourself if you think that they wouldn’t choose what will get them ratings over best judges.

Has to be a rumour. Don’t get me wrong Nicki is the illest female rap artist of the moment and I respect her for that. However she doesn’t have enough experience to be a judge. Especially since she is just now becoming popular. They should want someone that has been in the business for at least over 10 years. Just because an artist is popular doesn’t mean the ratings will be all that good. They should go for someone with a little more experience. Nicki is great, but she just released her first album. Mariah Carey would indeed be perfect, but I think that she might be “too big” for the show considering she most likely has a very busy schedule and all. Avril Lavigne is on the other hand a perfect candidate. She has released three albums which all have received great commercial success and the show would also be good promotion for her new album which just got out. Would be like the strategy Jennifer Lopez takes.. Cleaver. As someone above here mentioned, Nicole Scherzinger would also fit the judging panel. However, considering the huge let-down from her originally debut album “Her Name Is Nicole”, who is she to judge someone else? Nevertheless, she is very talented and an excellent performer, and the she could really use the extra promotion. So, Avril and Nicole for the win!

I am still a Nicki fan, because I do give entertainers more lead-way than a professional journalist, such as Jawn Murray who works for BlackWomenVoices. In addition, Nicki raps negatively about everything on Did It On Em, including things like stepson, bum b******, broke b******, etc. Finally, if I can listen to my boy Kanye, Jay-Z, etc. rap the word n**** throughout their songs, I will overlook this one flub for Nicki.

thank you for telling it like it is about this Season of Idol. It sucks!!! It’s hard to sell albums nowadays and Daughtry sells, but he sells a lot less, but he is consistent. Idol doesn’t know what it wants and apparently doesn’t care for finding real artists as evidenced by the mess of contestants this season. Steven Tyler wouldn’t know current music if it hit him. He’s a legend but he needs to stop lying to some of these of contestants. It’s funny how Idol stops the pretape and the contestants mostly all sound like crap.
I highly doubt that Nicki Minaj will be judge on a competitive reality T.V. talent show because it wouldn’t make any sense for her to halt her blooming career to cater to the demanding schedule of the show. Though she does have “the X-Factor,” the vibrant personality, the bold fashion sense, and catchy music, it would be hard for me to see her alongside the judging panel of heavy hitters because her career is just skyrocketing from the ground. And as far as the rumors of this Cheryl Cole chick…who is she again?
