If you took note, I was mute AND DID NOT TAKE SIDES, during the recent “internal political strife’ within TGJ. (I still hold-out hope for an happy ending between “all-pertinent parties”) I still think TGJ is ‘uniquely placed’ as there’s no other Black/Urban U.K./Caribbean based entertainment blog. If anything, I’d just love to see you guys expand to have reporters-at-large in each Caribbean Island, The U.S., AND The U.K.
Sam, if you didn’t realize, they’re aren’t a strong representation of black men on/in the Urban/Black Blog Landscape!

He had a hood on and he was smiling and making funny faces at the photogs. He looked adorable & so did the blonde hair. There was even one with him posing with cutie Mario Lopez. Chris is doing real good with his career, actually other than Usher and Trey songz, there is no other R & B male artist album that went gold over 2010 and 2011. R & B is doing so bad I can only think of Alicia Keys who went platnium and Monica went gold by shipments not by sales, todate Monica album only sold 474.00. I wish Chris would promo more in the US on tv, he did a couple of tv appearances and just stop promoting the album. I don’t know whats up with that. I still see Jennifer Hudson promoting everywhere. The new music industry has no patients for anything that is not POP oriented!! Once VIACOM purchased MTV, VH1, and BET it began segmenting music and casting certain forms of music down. Jazz & R&B are no longer considered important art forms. I never thought I would live to see the day when something like this would happened.
If you notice what has happened in recent years the most promoted artists are either POP or POP “HYBRIDS”: Taylor Swift Pop/Country, Adele Pop/Blue-Eyed Soul, Rihanna Pop/R&B, Lady Gaga (new queen of pop, so they say), Justin Bieber (new king of pop, so they say) etc.!
As for Chris and promotionals…LOL look how well he is doing without them? JHud has been on every program from Mane to Mexico and she has not surpassed him in sells. JLO is a judge on American Idol and has been all over promoting her CD yet its slated to only say 60 – 80k in its 1st week!?!? The same can be said about quite a few individual arists and groups! I would love to see Chris do more TV promos but if its just going to be torturous and only done to bring up that old bullsh** issue then I hope he just continues on this path!!
