It seems Trina isn’t the only one none too impressed with the nominations for the BET Awards 2011. For, R&B star Keyshia Cole has sensationally hit out at the network and sister station MTV, in an interestingly timed set of tweets on Twitter.

First I beg to differ with whoever wrote this post – Keyshia’s current album is solid, people were quick to write it off and diss her because she chose a bad lead off single. I hope Keyshia, Monica, Fantasia, Jazmine, Faith Evans, JHud, Chrisette Michelle and the REAL r&b divas don’t feel slighted by this BET mess. They should look back at some legendary divas and see how few awards those women received throughout their careers & realize that people like Bey & AKeys have been over-rewarded due to their “industry darling” status.
I want artists like Keyshia & the others I mentioned to keep putting out good material because I believe that the pendulum will swing in the music industry soon back to some type of middle ground where all this mindless pop/dance music won’t be so prevalent and people will again appreciate true r&b music & artists.

It is a two-way street and these artists have to pull their weight. Even popular artists are not seeing high ratings and record breaking sells. You have to deliever. I have never been a fan but will admit she has a great voice. Unfortunately, she falls into the Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Monica, etc trap! They have to have the right song to really bring out their range and vocal abiltity. “I REMEMBER” was my jam! I can listen to that song to this very day! She needs to recreate that feeling around her music again!

I actually thought the way she addressed the situation with her first tweet(s) was rather mature and lacked the bitterness that she showed in the latter tweet(s).
I think Keyshia is a solid R&B artist. She has a good (studio) voice, and all she needs is a good vocal coach to work on her live vocals. She tends to go flat nearly everytime she performs. But she has the potential to be so good vocally.
Her albums, aside from her most recent, are REALLY good R&B albums. This most recent one only had 3 or 4 decent songs, the rest seemed rushed and just…..whack. I like her, but IDK. I kinda think she feels this way since she did have BET show and maybe she felt a certain way about them at least nominating her since her fuckery of a show did make them some money, LOL!

I agree with Anthony…she has never reinvented herself. She has not kept things fresh, its always the same sad song. Seriously when she had her baby and got with Bobbie I just knew she would be bringing material that reflected that. Her last album was half ass. It was like she was just coming out with an album just to come out. There was a hunger in Keyisha back in the “I should’ve cheated ” era since then I haven’t bought any of her albums. MTV and BET are not always the greatest at showing love to all artists but their not to blame every time they don’t put you on screen. Who wants to support an artist who acts as if they don’t even want to be on stage and doesn’t show any growth ever. She doesn’t even appeal to the MTV audience.
