It appears last night’s nominees announcement for the BET Awards 2011 has left more than just select fans disgruntled. For, moments after the credits rolled on the 106 & Park announcement special, rapper Trina took to Twitter to let her feelings be known.
The ‘Diamond Princess’ was omitted from the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist category in favour of Nicki Minaj, Diamond, LoLa Monroe, and Master P’s daughter Cymphonique. This despite releasing an album last year, and two mixtapes since then.

And, unlike a number of her contemporaries, the rapper has yet to delete the tweet. Only time will tell if her ‘colourful’ response will drive her displeasure home or further distance her from what is, nomination or not, a major platform for her.
No word yet from fellow overlooked femcee Lil Kim – although we’re sure it’s coming. For, the network failed to pay homage to her Pay Pal chart success.
