To date, ‘Pink Friday’ has sold 1,342,000 copies in the US alone.

The video was pretty cute, but I can see how people don’t like it or the song. She’s a pretty processed artist that gives me nothing by way of creativity. Her crazy voices and fun attitude can be cool — but it wears then pretty quickly.

It’s not a natural dabble into other geners or a challenge to genre, rather, it’s a pre-calculated attempt to be the biggest star possible by appealing to every demographic she can. Smart, but I can’t look the other way and like her.

Well….I think it is an issue if people are waring the same things as other people. Not in a petty way, but in a very real way. It’s cheesy for everyone to wear the same Christian Louboutin shoes, Givenchy top or blue wig because a.) a stylist or art director gave it to them b.) it’s on trend. I expect artists to take ownership over their own personal aesthetic, not recycle old ideas with minimal rearrangement and expect praise.
Honestly, it’s getting to the point where you might as well combine all of these “Divas” into one. Just sit back and think for a moment about how much all the female pop stars have in common in terms of aesthetic and sound. The difference is only price tag and packaging.

That makes sense. It’s definitely a personal thing. For me, it gives an insight into an artist — what they will and will not allow themselves to look like ends up telling me a lot about motives.
With someone like Nicki — hell it might just have been a necessary evil for her to get her music heard, and she may care more about that. But personally I’m turned off by they way she allows herself to be put together, and I don’t like her music generally.
But I did like how fun this video looked. Very cute.

I actually remember those two songs. I do like them. Roman’s Revenge of course is cool, she does that theatrical thing but balances it with lyrics. I saw her in, I think it was XXL when she first came out out with the Sucka Free mix tape where she’s licking the lollypop and doing the Kim “My legs open” pose in a lil tribute to her (don’t know where it all went wrong after that, ha!). She went by Nicki Lewenski then. I like how she’s refined herself as an artist, but I wish she’d pull the reigns back on some her pop music and pop image. Really, I don’t want her to burn out or sell out. I think I wanted her to come out and separate herself from the rest of the pack, but I haven’t been satisfied just yet! I’m open to her, and nice to see you so passionate about her!

Booked by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment and managed by Troy Carter, Gaga worked with various promoters on the first leg of the tour, but cut a tour deal with Live Nation beginning in February of last year and taking her through the end of the tour. Im not buying that one. The girl questioned Nicki’s lyrics and basically called Missy a rap genious which is totally false.
When I see missy, I don’t see Nicki. They are just both animated rappers. Its a rap style they both use but they deliver the style differently. Animated rappers have been in the industry since flava flava, ODB, busta, eminem and ludacris but since its a female it can’t be done more than once.
Nicki is actually a better Lyricist than Missy if you listen to their body of work and study their lyrics. Yes I was a big fan of Missy.
