I used to think i was here was too personal for radio n for others to relate to too as well but surprisingly its one of the few songs that charted on itunes upon the album’s release; in europe anyways. we kno at some point she has to release a ballad, i woulda preferred 1+1 but the people have spoken!
I like Beyonce but I wish she had allocated her promotional budget more wisely and not invested so much in Girls (Run the world). This was a budget video and it was obvious. The concept was dumb and although the beginning of the video might do it for the men, as a female it did nothing for me. I thought she was underdressed in the beginning of the video. She could have kept a budget video with a better concept if she just taped a live performance of the song rather than a video that did not really make sense. (Well it did make sense but it her concept was dumb).

I really don’t know what some of you wanted. I thought the video went well with the song. It was very simple. Did it get me as excited as the RTW video – not really. Those are 2 totally different type of songs, that must have a certain kind of treatment for it. This is a ballad, what did you expect dance moves, elaborate costumes, something edgier? I think it was a beautiful video where Beyonce looked amazing! The start was just what I wanted, something that felt intimate, the flashback scene was creative, the climax at the end with the people at the reception was a good note to end it on. I’m pleased with it for the most part. I guess, it wasn’t enough for some people – Beyonce always has to do more that any artist who ever lived.

WTF is this? The concept wasn’t well executed. Where was the story line, where was the guy who lost out, how do we even know he cares or isn’t living it up with a wife and kids happy? All this was, was Beyonce in a basque and panties for a minute and a half and a wedding dress for the last 2 minutes with some wedding scenes thrown in. BTINH will go top 10, I think, then she should release End of Time in mid-August. I Care could be released at the end of the year, then she should do I Was Here or Start Over in the late winter/early spring. Next summer she should release Countdown, not Party. Either would work, though. Then do a re-release next fall with a new single around August, a second new single around October and then end the era in very early 2013.

They’re all great albums but I love each of them for different reasons. I love how 4 represents Beyonce as a person and how it’s an album made to show her talent. 21’s great lyrically and I love the raw emotion that Adele puts into it. Born This Way has great lyrical value on Gaga’s part and the production is so next-level it’s insane. MBDTF is a great album for Kanye’s flow, the eclectic sound and all of the ideas put into one album, and Femme Fatale is just a great pop record.

21 is amazing vocally & it’s just such a smooth, timeless record. It’s hard to even critique it. “Don’t You Remember”, “Someone Like You”, “Turning Tables” & “Rolling In the Deep” are my favorite songs.
Femme Fetale is a very fun album, but the thing is, everything starts sounding the same 5 tracks into the album. The only song I really love is “Till the World Ends”. SN: Where the f*** is Kyle?! LMAO.
BTW, hm. It has so many amazing tracks, but it just doesn’t connect with you emotionally at times. Also, its hard to love the album versions when they’re so much better live, lol. I love “Edge of Glory”, “You & I”, “Hair”, “Judas” & “Marry the Night” though.
MBDTF is one of the most creative Hip Hop albums of all time, IMO. The production on that album is amazing, the lyrical content lacks sometimes though. “Dark Fantasy”, “All of the Lights”, “Monster”, “Gorgeous” & “Lost In the World” are my favorites.
4 is my favorite album of the bunch because I’ve been waiting for Beyonce to make something like this for years. The vocals are insane & you can feel her raw emotion. Every song brings something new. It’s cohesive, but every song doesn’t sound exactly the same. I love that she took inspiration of music’s greatest eras then made an amazing album that could be played today. I really don’t care for Rather Die Young though. I feel like Schoolin Life would’ve been perfect in it’s spot. It’s a gear song & it’s them goes well with Party, the sound flows with Start Over. My favorite songs are “I Care”, “I Miss You, “End of Time”, “1 + 1”, “I Was Here, “Start Over”, “Party” & “Schoolin’ Life”.
I really think these albums will be leading the pack at the Grammys!

… anyways, I totally agree with you, @Kavion. Some songs are REALLY hard to connect with,,and there’s also the fact that’s not cohesive, and it’s lacking in sonic variation. But the live versions of the songs do s*** all over the album versions.
And I love 21 and 4. They’re so well crafted that it’s honestly hard to find a flaw in either albums, and I feel such a strong connection to them.
Kanye, for all of his annoying (and hilarious) quirks, is a madly talented artist. MBDTF isn’t a perfect album, but it still easily shits on 90% of what’s out there in the mainstream.

Yeah, I agree that subject-wise, 4 is a little more balanced (never thought I’d be saying that about a Beyoncé album), but Adele was going through a particularly difficult breakup at the time that she was making 21, so I can totally forgive the album centering on romantic relationships. I am at work so I watched the video without the music and I haven’t heard the song so I’ll comment on the video only…
I didn’t like her facial expressions throughout the video AT ALL… She was totally OVERDOING it, they were so unnatural and superficial and out of place… It didn’t match the whole picture of the video, she was in that “classy” room and at that time her face looked like she was talking to somebody on the street… Not “classy” at all…
But I guess that’s just the way Beyonce moves her mouth and lips when she talks… It’s her ethnic background and she just can’t get out and rid of it obviously…
