New Video: Frank Ocean – ‘Thinking About You’

Published: Thursday 15th Sep 2011 by TGJ Staff

Yes, ‘Thinking About Forever’ is now Roc Nation’s budding star Bridget Kelly’s “buzz record” of sorts, but Frank Ocean’s previously released demo version, ‘Thinking About You’, seems to have taken on a life of it’s on. So much so, Ocean recently released the High 5 Collective directed visual for his original take on the tune.

Check it out below…

im so glad that grape juice posted this !! The video is stunning for any one that doesnt understand the concept

The bulk of the video centers around an old-fashioned journeyman seeking help for his wounded wife, who ends up stirring a Shaman of sorts into helping “keep the spirit alive.”

This video was honestly amazing. The complexity of the video makes it even better because once you figure it out you see it’s not complex at all. My interpretation of the video is the little boy is seeing the future in the past. The song is saying “or do you not think that far ahead? Cause I been thinking about forever.” The little boy is seeing forever with the girl laying in the bed. He see’s himself going to the end of the world for her. He sees himself giving himself and sacrificing himself for her. I love the way the young boy is seeing the future in the past but it makes sense because in the song he says “I will love you until color turns black and white”. If you don’t get the video listen to the song first and understand the song.

I don’t think it’s that at all, my interpretation was that that’s his mum in a coma and the things in the room are influencing the things she’s seeing in the coma. She has the Sharman patterned throw so she sees that, the doctor is telling the boy a story about something shooting across somewhere and she sees that in the the sky in her coma. She’s waiting to be rescued and woken up.

I love the song. I didn’t really understand the video, but it was very unique.

@artist love me interesting interpretation. i got a different feel though.
To me it more seemed as if the boy is her kid and the wanderer guy was his daddy and in trying to save her (thinking of her) he died but made sure she was kept alive so that she could have their kid (thinking about forever). and i think the line from colour to black and white means from when it’s good til when it’s bad or from the now till when they end.
it’s pretty dope tho and different, i’m sure i probably don’t get what he’s trying to portray tho

His creations are cool and different.
    The arrangements aint typical either

from what i saw in the video, im drawing this theory that the sick girl is actually dreaming about how her lover from the past life(since the two are wearing clothes from a different period) saved her life by bringing her the opal ring. and as shes currently going through medical treatment, Frank is telling the kid the story about the opal ring’s mysterious power that is going to help the girl get better by “keeping her spirit alive”
