J Cole Thanks Fans For #1 Album

Published: Wednesday 5th Oct 2011 by David

One day has passed since it was confirmed here that Roc Nation Rapper J Cole was to enjoy a  #1 position with his debut album ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story‘.

Now, the entertainer has taken to Twitter to thank his fans for purchasing 218,000 copies of the LP in its first week of release.

Peep his very special message below…

‘Just want to say THANK YOU!’

We shook the game up. Nochart topping single, just 2 years of hard work, great music and real ass fans. #1 album. Thanks to every fan that held me down, every friend, every blog, magazine, tv, radio station, dj’s and pd’s, I feel like we ALL won.’

Well done indeed.

For while the likes of Rihanna fail to score #1 albums even with singles like ‘Only Girl In The World’ and ‘Umbrella‘ behind them, it is interesting to see that it is the artists who enjoy less success on the Billboard Hot 100 seem to be the ones scoring the highest figures on the Billboard 200.

I like him and he’s one of the most gifted rappers of his generation.I’m totally checking for his 2nd album.

HOWEVER, @TGJ is rushing a bit.I’m just saying that a great 1st week does not equal a great chart run.So, just wait until it’s gold (I’m hoping it will be by Christmas) to brag about his figures, because I wouldn’t like to see a “J Cole : Promotion Vs. Product” article anytime soon. 😕

He should go gold with Black Friday and Christmas coming up, his sales should sustain with strong word of mouth and the shopping season approaching.

Hopefully the music consumers shallow asses get off these catchy europop trash and get back to listening to real music. Then again, Lil Wayne just sold a mil in a week off a album about nothing of substance.

So proud of this guy. And just think, so many people said he wouldn’t have a successful debut album. Cole World!

  13. KIMBERLY October 5, 2011

I am so rooting for Jay cole and xtina this year apart from my Queen. It amazes me how his first album went to #1 and some artist don’t know what it is like to have one at all, striving over many. Jason D, and company. SAD SO SAD. I guess some fans think it is not important. This section of billboard does not exist where it is the only section which summarizes a body of work.

Once again, Bravo jay Cole, you are great.

In Addition, Jay z need to focus on Alexis Jordin and bring her out full force already, she will be major and is talented

the following queens (yes queens not kings) are running the game. they are better than u in flow, lyricism, poetry, positive message in society, nobel prizes, grammys, hall of fame and star on hollywood walk of fame. sit down and let the followin rule:

in order of accolades, respect and nobel prize for changing the hip hop game
