Fantasia Phones Into ‘The Wendy Williams Show’, Talks ‘Mahalia Movie’

Published: Tuesday 11th Oct 2011 by Rashad

Absence from music charts certainly has not kept ‘Back To Me’ hitmaker Fantasia from finding herself back in headlines  – unfortunately for rumors more than recordings.  Her (now) infamous relationship with Antwaun Cook, rebirthed rumors of financial despair, and the most recent rumor of her removal from a biopic about legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson are just a few of the headlines that have teemed tabloids.

Mum on the topics until now, the Southern soulstress took to gossip queen Wendy Williams to air out her side of the story concerning these and other murmurs.  Find out what Fantasia shared after the jump:

Here’s hoping that more energy can be focused on removing this drama from the tabloids onto a screen or an LP. For a songstress as talented as Fantasia, it is unfortunate that her craft is being clouded, better yet drowned, in drama.  Albeit often self-inflicted, that does not negate the fact that it is unnecessary and distracts some from why Fantasia is even famous in the first place – here voice.

For the ‘truth is’, these repeats are not winning any new fans.

Fantasia looked like she wanted to curse out wendy williams after she kept asking about her man

  8. Late October 11, 2011

    @ Carl
How did Fantasia “look” like she wanted to curse her out when this was a phone interview? The show had a stock photo of her up on the screen.

This was probably the most articulate i’ve ever heard Fantasia come across in an interview. I give her credit for trying to set the record straight, regardless if what she was saying is true or not.

    Wendy Williams scares me

  14. SHESDUMB October 11, 2011

IDK WHY THEY CHOOSE HER TO PLAY THE GREAT MAHALIA JACKSON, HER VOICE DOESNT EVEN SOUND LIKE MAHALIA’S. FANTASIA GOT THAT RASPY TYPE AIRY TYPE VOICE WHEN MAHALIA HAD THE STRONG SOLID VOICE, SO THIS ROLE IS CONFUSING UNLESS FANTASIA WAS THE ONLY ONE THEY COULD FIND THAT COULD HELP DRAWN IN AN AUDIENCE.

This is like the 3rd time this week Wendy Williams had something she said in her Hot Topics come back to bite her. First, Kendra Wilkinson came on to say she was offended by what Wendy said about her. Wendy didn’t want to at least say she was sorry. Then Fantasia got upset. THEN, same show Al Sharpton had to correct her. I watch the show, but she needs to take it down a notch with just repeating stories from the National Enquirer. I’m waiting for someone to punch her in the face.

  23. TRUTH October 12, 2011

  27. antertain October 12, 2011

Fantasia is a great passionate vocalist.
It’s a shame her drama comes ahead of her music now but hopefully she finds a peaceful place, has her baby and starts rebuilding herself for what we know best about her. HER VOICE.

  28. ME MYSELF AND I October 12, 2011

to the comment left above, I don’t think they chose her so much for them singing in the same fashion (fantasia’s raspy and light voice/mahaliah’s strong and solid voice) but more so the fact that both of their voices just have SO much soul in it. both of their voices really move people. I cant wait to see how fantasia will fair in this opportunity, I honestly don’t think they could have picked someone better to play mahaliah. R.I.P. mahalia
