New Song: Willow Smith – ‘Fireball (ft. Nicki Minaj)’

Published: Wednesday 5th Oct 2011 by Sam

Willow Smith is back! And this time, the 10 year old wonder has enlisted Nicki Minaj for her new single ‘Fireball’!

Listen to the pair light it up after the jump!

Needless to say, the song’s title is apt as apt can be. For, put simply, the song is straight fire! From the production, to the swagger, to the Nicki feature. Fire!

After the homerun that was ‘Whip My Hair’, Ms. Smith made a quiet misstep with the altogether Pop-ier ’21st Century Girl’. ‘Fire’, however, repositions Smith  in the lane most becoming of her – edgy Urban Pop. The brand which sees her remain age-appropriate, while appealing to the older record buying mass. Great track, which reignites a promising career. Go Willow!

The GO GO drums are everything…..

However, the song isn’t what EVERYBODY was making it out to be. it’s GOOD ENOUGH.

DEFINITELY don’t wanna hear this in any club im at though.

I just don’t see it for a real club other than Chucky Cheese…unless they play JUST Nicki’s part and cut to the next song lol

Nice track not a fan of willow i came here for Nicki but it turned out the whole song is fire, keep doing you willow i love seeing others doing there thing even though i am not a fan,and you already know that Nicki is going to be on her Tip as usual keep doing you Nicki.

  14. Eric October 5, 2011

Hmm that girl straight up ripped off Dev’s “Fireball”. The beat and flow is way to similar!

  15. RDK October 5, 2011

Nice i like it,that Lil kid is no joke and i see you nicki releasing new material i like that, you both lock it down.

  17. Shawn October 5, 2011

DEV did FIREBALL first, sounds very similar. This child’s parents need to stop pimping her out.

  18. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) October 5, 2011

Hmm…ok, not that I expected much more just because everyone is saying “SHE SLAYYYYED”, but this is just not my style, I guess.I personally find it corny and I don’t even like the beat that much.Nicki sounded cool, but Willow has already worked with her on that WMH remix, so I’m surprised that she collaborated with her again. But, hey, at least it’s not generic, so no shade. She’s just doing her thing 😎

  19. D.Strock October 5, 2011

I actually don’t really like it. It has no real hook

  20. NATALIE THE NAVY GIRL October 5, 2011

Wow. Willow has come back with this song. Loving this especially Nicki’s verse,

  21. KAT DELUNA FAN October 5, 2011

l like it at first listen.the song is really urban

    she deserves a better management

  22. Those That Cannot Do, Stan October 5, 2011

I don’t believe Nicki ever worked with Willow before, the rap that’s on YouTube for the WMH song was for another artist and song and someone just ripped Nicki’s part and put it on Willow’s song.

Lol, good for Nicki. I haven’t listened to any of the songs she’s been featured on recently but 4 features just for the fall? Nice. She’s very successful and much as folks hate her she’s smashed past those claiming she’d only have 15 minutes of fame.

Now for Willow if this song is as good as people are saying then I’m happy for her too. She did fall off with 21st century girl but I’m happy she wasn’t a one hit wonder after Whip My Hair. Shes young but she seems to have good instincts when it comes to music.

  23. lifee October 5, 2011

Nicki is so damn random with her raps. Not here for bubble acts….

  24. VA STAND UP!!! October 5, 2011

Damn! This s*** bangs! Beat goes TOO hard! I think this surprised me even more than ‘Whip My Hair’ did! I can’t fully understand what she is saying on the verses but her delilvery is nice! She sounds so confident like she has been in the game for years! She may not be writing her lyrics but she spits them like she knows exactly what she’s saying! She is too cute!

I see Nicki is everybody’s go to girl for female rap collaborations now, which is getting old but she pretty much is the only female rapper right now who is doing it big so I can’t hate. Plus she did her thing on this! Nicki has a tendency to outshine the artist when he is a feature but I think she complimented Willow really nice. Plus she kept it clean.

I have to agree with Sam completely! I was skeptical about Willow at first, mostly because of her age, but she proved me wrong with this! It looks like she is really gonna be coming hard! She ain’t gonna be no one hit wonder! She is definitely looking to own that urabn/pop lane!

Lil Willow is coming for a certain someone’ s crown! Get it Willow! Lol!

B****, last time I checked lil kim wasnt the topic of this post. take some damn seats.

  32. 100% REAL October 5, 2011

I actually like it. I’m going to start calling Willow, “Rihanna Jr.” This girl reminds me so much of Rihanna it’s not even funny! I must admit, she definitely has swag with her little skinny self! Lol.

  33. I’ma have to send her to her maker October 5, 2011

Willow can sing much better than rihanna in my opinion and she’s so little. I am a fan of willow’s music. But I admit she has a lot of growing to do image-wise. I think the beat is hot but Idk about the chorus and everything else. Of course nicki kills her verse. I’ll leave it at that.

  34. I’ma have to send her to her maker October 5, 2011

@Lol well she’s a child. What do you expect? R*****. Lol.

  35. JER October 5, 2011

People say Rihanna has no influence in the game… this ho has been riding HARD on Rihannas style since Day 1

    FLOP Child!!!!!!!

  37. I’ma have to send her to her maker October 5, 2011

@Jer calling a little kid a ho shows how classy and cultivated you are. Asshole.

  38. Gilberto October 5, 2011

Whip My Hair was my jam. Century Girl or whatever the hell it’s called was pure garbage. This new song sounds okay, it might be a grower. And Nicki? She’s pathetic. I can’t wait to see this b**** flopping then doing some low budge reality shows on BET. Bye!

  39. Those That Cannot Do, Stan October 5, 2011

Okay finally had a chance to listen to the song. DAMNNNNN little Willow Smith…you’re officially on the radar and her swagger and confidence on the tracks is off the charts. The song is a little kiddy but good too. The beat is INSANE. Nicki was smart to get on this one.

  40. Yellow Gorillah October 5, 2011

People say Rihanna has no influence in the game… this ho has been riding HARD on Rihannas style since Day 1

^^ @JER Always spilling The Truest Of Teas!!!

  41. Kendra October 5, 2011

    Nicki did that

  42. Ja’mila Dior October 5, 2011

Willow slays and nicki’s verse just made it hotter. And I believe willow said wtf.

  43. kicktheeardrum October 5, 2011

I think the song is decent, but it sounds a tad dated. Willow has swag for days though, so as she gets older she will only get better.

Nicki’s good on the track, but it’s her boring rapping side. Bring romans out.

Gilberto that is a typical comment coming from a crab in a bucket like you,who don’t want to see anyone makes it,your type will forever be bitter and press, that is such a sad reality.

  46. Teacher October 5, 2011

  48. Vandrea October 5, 2011

Willow is more talented than Rihanna.

  49. T October 5, 2011

    I love little Rihanna!

  50. Original October 5, 2011

  51. KD October 6, 2011

Me no likey…she sounds an awful lot like Rihanna.

S/N: I extremely concerned about the image that she is trying to portray. This little girl is 10 yrs old and here she is talking about she’s the fireball of the party? It’s only a matter of time before she sings about how she gives the best head, SMH. Children should be allowed to be children and as far as I am concerned she is still too young for this mess.

  52. YOOSONDALOOSE October 6, 2011

They have played their cards so right with this song, having Nicki means this will be a hit!

  53. lela October 6, 2011

  54. Avenger October 6, 2011

    KD sounds like a prude.

  55. KD October 6, 2011

Reality shows that more often than not when you are exposed to the “limelight” at a very young age, things are likely to go horribly wrong in the future. Examples

    1) Drew Barrymore: – entered drug rehab @ age 13
    2) Lindsay Lohan :- you know the story
    3) Britney Spears:- Meltdown anyone?
    4) Macauley Culkin – Drugs

Little Ms. Smith @ age 10 may have her very own “good girl gone bad” phase @ age 13, and that is not a good thing.

  56. Aloyisious Divo October 6, 2011

Lol, not to be racist but the African American starlets don’t usually have the public meltdowns and scandals that the Britney’s, Lindsey’s, and Paris’ of the world do. Like Beyonce, Raven Symone, and Brandy, Willow has her family in her corner. I’m sure she’ll go far.

  57. KD October 6, 2011

    @Aloyisious Divo

Things that make you go hmmm…but I guess there is a first time for everything.

Not for me HOWEVER it’s a banging fresh young track for Willow and Nicki put a hot verse on.

    Well put together

  62. nice_gurl October 6, 2011

She’s way too young to be doing this. She should wait till she’s at least 15….go to school and be a normal kid.

I didn’t really like this song. Annoying.

They have played their cards so right with this song, having Nicki means this will be a hit!”

Hmmmmm Having Nicki on a track doesnt equal a hit for other females, I’ve noticed that. Males YES! With other females NO!

    Mariah & Nicki = FLOP

    Keyshia & Nicki = FLOP

    Nicki & Rihanna = FLOP

Nicki & Britney & Ke$ha was supposed to put TTWE to #1 but it = FLOP

Mary & Nicki (Mash Up) = FLOP

    I wonder why that is……?

  64. THEFASHIONISTACHIC October 6, 2011

    Go head lil momma!

  65. cume October 6, 2011

Even for a kid there are haters…Omg!! Kelly Rowland was right “Hater never take a Vacation”. SMH at Haters

  66. Those That Cannot Do, Stan October 6, 2011

Children have parties too as well as school dances, sleepovers, and such. I hardly think a child singing “I’m the fireball of the party!” = a new way of saying I’m the life of the party means Williw’s going to be talking about sucking off dude’s. That’s kind of silly.

I also think you’re missing that every star you mentioned had a screwed up home life before getting famous. It isn’t that fame is screwing them up, it’s that they enter fame already screwed up and with family that doesn’t really care about them.

  67. ragen lewis October 6, 2011

Wow so how old is willow:)

  68. WACK October 7, 2011

  70. chrisbr October 10, 2011

My 12 year old and her friends aren’t into her at all. They know who she is, but they don’t listen to her music, it’s too “old” for them I think. Why would they take a kid that age and auto-tune her to the point where she doesn’t even sound human? I wonder if they just let her sing like kid, if the kids would have been more receptive to her music. This is going to flop just like the last one because adults aren’t going to buy 10 year old kid’s cd.

  71. TheE October 10, 2011

Love this lil girl but this song straight up gave me a headache…..guess it has to grow on u.
