Previously featured on last year’s Gold certified ‘Merry Christmas II You’, the retooled version of the track now features R&B crooner John Legend. Prior to now, the pair teamed up in 2005 for a spine-tingling cover of ‘With You I’m Born Again’. Do they have the same magic this go round?

Really Nice. I could also Predict when the High Note was gonna happen….. Still nicely done.
If performed live without pre-recorded tracks and tricks of the biz and it sounded this well…. THAT WOULD SIGNAL A VOCAL RETURN

  20. itsbkinthemix November 15, 2011

I like it, but I would still chose Mariah’s solo version any day!

  21. STANNSFORWHITNEYHOUSTON November 15, 2011

@ GUS Whitney Houston is THE VOICE let’s not snatch other Icon’s titles to compliment your fave. I LOVE this duet both meshed well so much better than the abomination that ft Beiber.

  22. Jasmine November 16, 2011

I like this song. I have her 1st Christmas CD. The second I did not bother buying but I’m glad that she is still promoting it. I still think the 1st one is a better classic Christmas CD.

  23. VA STAND UP!! November 16, 2011

I like it, their voices sound good togehter, doesn’t really sound like a Christmas song though. *shrugs*

I’m looking forward to this Christmas album, but NOTHING will ever be able to top her first Christmas album to me. It was truly a classic. Listen to it EVER Christmas. Love MiMi!

  24. Sameer November 16, 2011

she’s f****** bananas if she thinks this will become a hit. She’s f****** lost her sense of what will sell – or she never really had it (sony used to release singles, remember?)
She’s gone loopy. If she’d have released the first noel or Christmas time is in the air again, she’d have had a really positive reception, no matter how small. This generic r&b trash isn’t going to help her current image of putting out c grade work.
She f***** memoirs by releasing IWKWLI instead of BGK
    and now this.

  25. 100Block November 16, 2011

Is it me, or does their voice do not mash well together? I really do not see what is so great about Mariah’s voice; her voice has no color to it. And she went flat several times throughout the song

  26. Theman November 16, 2011

Mariah’s tonality, technique, range, melisma’s,musicality & much more is what makes her voice amazing. She is hardly flat on this song. Get your ears checked. This song is amazing. John was just basically put on it. @Sameer you are lost with what she should release. Most of her fans really like this song. You’re the oddball out.

  27. aisha aguilera keys November 16, 2011

I like! Weird, on another post peeps were praising the return of r’n’b yet they bash this song.

  28. Theman November 16, 2011

You know nothing about music to say that she has no color to her voice, she one of the few female artists that actually does, she can sing many different genres, and color the song to fit that genre. Infact, she’s one of the front runners in that department.

  29. 100Block November 16, 2011

I will stick by my words: Mariah has no color to her voice. She’s airy, flat on her notes, and her use of melisma is overrated especially compared to singers who sing circles around her in those departments.

I always felt because she had range and could hit a whistle note is the main reason her fans over exaggerate he vocal abilities. Case in point: Mariah is a studio singer; her ability to create her magic live has always fell far short to her recordings especially compared to that of Celine, Aretha, Whitney etc. To me, that is not a real singer. Real singers can sing better live than they can recorded, and she has never really mastered that feat.

20 years in the business, and she still cannott captivate her audience live; she has 0 stage presence, she is very insecure even now, and the way she dresses proves to me she is VERY insecure.

I am not being negative, but my sentiments are well warranted from observing her behavior and mannerisms.

And the sad part are her stans: She has manipulated you over the years that her voice is this savior grace, when in actuality, she is as only good as her recordings and studio enhancing. She has mastered the art of deception in music: studio trickery.

Many people like me who observe the music and the voice; are able to determine the real from the fake, and Mariah has been deceiving since the late 90s. Look how her photos are photoshopped to death for christ sakes! This woman photoshops candid shots! #ICant!

  30. King November 16, 2011

Wow, Def not the closest ‘big’ fan of her, but she actually sounds as goods as good as she did back in the day….unless this is autotune. Doubt it…This is great!!

  31. TM November 16, 2011

@100Block Well you must be dumb enough to think that she’s the only Celeb to get her photos edited and vocals mastered. Palease. Most, Actually ALL Musicians will have their vocals mastered for studio AND photo’s edited. I admit she has a very good sound team to be able to trick people, however she isn’t the only one who does so. Celine has been caught, and so have many other musicians.

Also you do realise that the process of choosing singles for the albumn doesn’t come down to her alone. The label has a say in it, She’s said multiple times that she wanted different songs as singles but they couldn’t make it happen, for example with e=mc2, she wanted Migrate.

Another point, just because she enjoys making R&B doesn’t make it ‘trash’. Anyone can call any type of music trash, I can call her ballads trash. But they are’nt, and if I did that would only be MY opinion.

Her musicianship is what makes her appealing to me. She write’s her own music, has a nice overall tone – wether she’s in head voice or not. Her airy voice is unique and there is no one else with an airy voice or whistle register like hers.

It seems clear that you’re just adamant on putting her down for some reason, ah well haterz gon’ hate.

  32. gus November 16, 2011

@STANNSFORWHITNEYHOUSTON my friend…. Mariah isTHE VOICE now and forever. Whitney was another voice, but now just a memory but also I lov U. sorry, Mariah is back!!!!!!

  33. Bobby Bulgaria November 16, 2011

    Mariah IS…

    >>> THE ONLY VOICE <<<

…that is out there… and that has always been there… and that will always be…

  34. Bobby Bulgaria November 16, 2011

    @ 100Block:

    Oh, you’re SO DELUSIONAL… 🙂

Photoshopped pics, studio enhancements… Hello??? Are you born just yesterday???
Who doesn’t do that in fact???

And I guess YOU HAVEN’T HEARD her live in the 90’s to speak about studio artistry…

(I guess you’re just a Beyonce stan that really LOVES her LIVE YODELLING performances which are not very tasteful, and are mostly lip-synced too by the way… 🙂

  35. TIMMI November 16, 2011

You know when you listen to a YouTube singer, but they didn’t put the effort into finding an instrumental so they sing along with the artist?

    That.

  36. TIMMI November 16, 2011

    @100BLOCK

    Stop trolling!

  37. Charice November 16, 2011

check out Jessica Ashley doing her thing, jessicaashleyk on youtube. she sounds like mariah

  38. 100Block November 16, 2011

LMAo at Mariah being THE VOICE. That title belongs to Whitney f****** Houston. She has to duplicate live what she does in the studio before she can think about LOOKING at that title. Whitney earned that title fair and square.

Whitney’s voice may not be what it use to be (neither is Mariah’s), but she ALWAYS sings live, and she doesn’t copy and paste her vocals in the studio like Mariah

Yes, every artist uses mastering and editing; but Mariah is suppose to be this “Great” singer who doesn’t need much of all that, when she clearly is the QUEEN of it.

Yes some artist use air brushing and photo editing; but Mariah has been known to alternate even candid shots; appear thin in her photos/videos, when we all know she has linebacker shoulders and shaped funny. CHILD PLEASE

I’d rather hear today’s REAL Whitney, over a fake Mariah.

But who are we kidding, if we were go by today’s top singer, it wouldn’t be Mariah, but CELINE DIONE! Her voice is STILL IN TACT!

Show me any receipts that Celine is a voice manipulator like MARIAH…SHOW EM!>>>You Can’t so SIT!

You lambs are as delusional and insecure as y the woman u worship who don’t even know u exist…SIT!

  39. Raden November 16, 2011

    @100block

F***k yourself and Go Away!! This topic is about Lagendary Mariah Carey! She is the Biggest Selling Female Artist Of All Time 18#1 Singles selling over 200 million Album sold World Wide u better eat your s*** before taking another closer to ruin our fav Artist!

  40. TIMMI November 16, 2011

    @100BLOCK

    Likewise…

Show me any receipts that Mariah is a voice manipulator…SHOW EM!>>>You Can’t so SIT!

  41. TM November 16, 2011

@100Block Ignorance is bliss. Today’s Whitney can’t sing for s*** and that’s fact. Not anyone else’s fault she’s on crack, other than Bobby’s. But then again, he is her husband.

Oh and there’s this site called YOUTUBE were you can find proof of Celine Dion lipping.

But anyway, can’t you just be happy and leave your negative comment’s a side?

Either way, Whitney, Mariah & Celine are all friends. So while you bitter stans b**** and fight about them… Well they probably certainly don’t care about what we have to think… Especially haterz. Which clearly you are.

  42. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah November 17, 2011

Song is awesome. She sung it very well. Mariah Carey & John Legend both are singing icons of the industry so there combination always works. I give 10/10 to this song.

  43. nicegirl November 17, 2011

Mariah sounds really great. Love it!! And John was great as usual.
