Soulful crooner Frank Ocean emerged as one the year’s biggest breakout acts, striking quite the chord with critics and fans alike.
Interestingly, the singer-songwriter, who penned Beyonce ‘4’ favourite ‘I Miss You‘, has also caught the attention of the fashion world, posing in the latest issue of Men’s Vogue (L’Uomo Vogue) – who declare him “the best R&B lyricist since Prince”. Hmm.

I think they’re right. For the past 20 years all anyone in r&b music has been concerned with is making hits. Nobody in the genre writes what they feel anymore

Prince isn’t that different from any other artist that came out in the 80’s. He just had the right label behind him.
Frank ocean isn’t that talented or that great of an writer…he’s basic.
That statement is an insult. There are plenty of writers in the last 20 years that have written way more memorable songs and lyrics than both fore mentioned. In the R&B genre

Ya’ll need to hop off Frank nuts he is a brilliant song writer “basic” noo basic is a n**** that songs alludes to flashy club music where every other line is rhyming “poppin bottles ” and “models” talkin about how much materialistic s*** you have (looks at Trey songz,Chris brown, 50 cent,Timberland Waka flocka” Frank Ocean on the other hand tales vibrant stories of the night life and life in general that many people can relate to. As well as make you think and remember why you feel in love with music in the first place! Hell, who else can cover a classic ‘ Hotel California” and make it sound like an modern rnb /alternative love song with prince influences that gives commentary and insight on polygamy and arranged marriage at the same time !

Just by you takin shots at Prince proves you dont know much about music ,Most music lovin 80’s babies know Prince wasnt the only one making soulful, funky,electric-pop music in the 80’s and 90’s but their was something unique about his voice that could hit almost any note, the lyrics that were s*** even frank but still sounded poetic and timeless (like Frank Ocean) Thats why he’s the one only Prince, a f***** Rock/Pop icon!
I’m getting really sick of upcoming artists considering their material worthy to compare to people who have put in years, some decades of hard dedication.
