With major releases from the likes of Beyonce, Chris Brown, and Adele, 2011 was quite the year for Sony Music. A trend which looks set to continue after a highly placed exec lifted the lid on some of the label’s big plans for next year.

Joe Riccitelli, who serves as Head of Promotions at Sony’s lead label RCA, stopped by Coast 93.3 to talk about what 2012 holds for their roster. Check out what he said in the exclusive interview with Tony Knorp below…
Granted anything other than a 2012 release for Aguilera and Usher would have been crazy, it’s great to hear a new Pink project is also being conjured up. Ever consistent, Ms. Moore rarely disappoints, which has us here at TGJ HQ hyper excited about her first album since giving birth to daughter Willow.
Conversely, it’s equally awesome to hear that Britney Spears will be taking a much needed seat next year. She’s clearly been “zoned-out” for her last few projects; as such we can only hope the happiness in her personal life allows her to recharge her batteries. Or, perhaps, call it a day and focus on what else life has to offer. After all, she has just as much claim to the lyrics in Beyonce‘s ‘I Was Here’ as Beyonce does (see: done did it all).
Speaking of Bey (another Sony staple), I guess it’s safe to say, the mother-to-be won’t be dropping an album until 2013 at the earliest. Sigh.

Un4tunate flopped and failed to make the top10 year end in the US or in the UK… or really anywhere… AFTER 7 MONTHS ON THE SHELVES.

Britney – Glas she’s taking a break, it’s obvious her heart wasn’t in this era like it was with “Circus” but “Femme Fatale” is still a great pop record, Britney never delivers bad quality music. I think she should take a few years off and concentrate on her kids and relationship and then IF she wants to come back she can do it when her heart’s in it 🙂 She’s given so much to her fans and music in general that she doesn’t need to do anything for anyone but herself.
Xtina – I’m looking forward to this comeback and she has all the potential to make it big again, top songs (as ever), platform (The Voice) and anticipation all she needs to do is make sure the album is cohesive and up to date, lose a few lbs and make sure she promotes the hell outta the album, “Bionic” had barely any promo after the initial release in the US and none internationaly.
Usher – Unless he’s ditching dance he needs to stay away.
Pink – Hope she comes up with something better than “Raise your glass”…
If Usher comes back with that Techno s***, then he’s ass needs to take a seat.

Apparently, some music and radio programmers have already heard her new single and say it’s BIG and AMAZING and gets stuck in your head. I guess that’s how it works when an artist has a new single. They present it to the major radio markets and THEY determine whether it’ll be what’s needed on the radio. Then if they say yes then that’s when all the viewers start calling it in to add it more and more.
