New Song: Alexandra Burke- ‘Elephant’

Published: Friday 13th Jan 2012 by David

It’s here!

Alexandra Burke‘s latest single ‘Elephant‘ just surfaced on British radio and is now available for your listening pleasure.

Without further delay, listen below…

Wow!

Similar to Everything But The Girl‘s ‘Missing’ (in its ability to be both electronic and soulful at the same time), ‘Elephant’  is -in many ways- the perfect Electro Pop record.

Succeeding in being 100% radio friendly without once compromising Burke’s vocal talent, we sincerely hope the number is supported with a video just  impressive and builds enough momentum to take its supporting album to the top of the charts upon it release.

In short, this was well worth the wait.

Fierce!

  8. MissImpartial January 13, 2012

Lol when she sings “you wanna talk about” all I hear is” you wanna f*** about it”.

  10. YOOSONDALOOSE January 13, 2012

    Its sounds alright you know.
    Not amazing but pretty good.

  11. Remey January 13, 2012

    It’s okay. I just don’t think there’s nothing special about it. Blah….

  13. Tophot January 13, 2012

It doesn’t sound like her to me, lots of auto tune and it sounds like all the other dance tracks out there in the chart, nothing original nor outstanding

  14. Maddox January 13, 2012

First of all- HOw DARE you compare this trash to Everything but the Girl’s ‘Missing’. Are you out of your mind??? ‘missing’ is a class gem of a song. ‘Elephant’ is pure rubbish.

Second of all- Elephant is S***! It just sounds like noise….and it’s NOT memorable what-so-ever.

  15. Minajesty January 13, 2012

the beat is good and her voice slays but its so generic! nothing different from rihanna britney etc. oh well.

  16. TheFame January 13, 2012

WOW I actually like it! She might finally have a HIT! If given a good video and the right promo.

  17. gio88 January 13, 2012

wow doesn’t seems HER!the song anyway sound pretty good!

  18. I.D. January 13, 2012

Calm down Grape Juice!!! Stop gushing and get your nose outta Alexandra’s behind. Love her I do, but the song ain’t THAT good. It doesn’t merit the ampunt of praise you’re giving it.

It’s not as good as Broken Heels, and it’s DEFINITELY nowhere near as good as Bad Boys.

  19. Scott January 13, 2012

The song is hot and will crush the competition the end is brilliant. Mia is pathetic it is actually Toya from Toays world who is sick and obsessed with Alex-chill b****.

  20. “IM VERY RICH B****” January 13, 2012

DAMN ANOTHER EURO/DANCE SONG FROM ANOTHER BLACK CHIC..BLAAAH, NOTHING SPECIAL, SHE NEEDS TO HOOK UP WITH NEYO AGAIN BC HE WROTE SOME DOPE STUFF FOR HER

  21. Mercy January 13, 2012

y is she naked in this photo to promote a song?????????

  22. HERE I….FLOPPED January 13, 2012

    WOW???? This s*** is WACK

  23. Mercy January 13, 2012

What a trashy song!!! Alexandra is way too good for this crap!

  24. @antertain January 13, 2012

She well executes the song and its very club friendly, which will make it a hit.
BUT why is this gorgeous voice going to waste on this diddy pop songs all the time??

Her vocals need to be displayed and be spread globally.
Lyrics are good though on Elephant and a lot of people can relate to the words.
Auto-tune effect did dominate a bit too much for me but I really hope it does well as I think Alexandra has massive talent in her

  25. Jasmine January 13, 2012

blah. sounds like everything else autotune. also why do the parts where she is trying to sing sound like she is gargling and in a tunnel.

  26. jay January 13, 2012

i love it, it certainly was worth the wait! lets hope the video is great!

  27. Scott January 13, 2012

Alex is versatile and her album will have ballads, pop and soul. She needed to release a big tune for the comeback single.

  28. TAYLOR SWIFTS NUMBER 1 FAN!!! January 13, 2012

she sounds like a robot on this song.

  29. ♛ pop royalty ♛ ( The BeyHive ) January 13, 2012

    @MISSimpartial :

the same here ” the point about “F*** ”

it is a good dance song.

never imagined i will like it , but i did.

  30. Mercy January 13, 2012

    so disgusting to the ears!

  31. JohnVidal January 13, 2012

It could be any of Rihanna or Britney autotuned songs! It´s wack and pure crap, generic!!! Sorry, I know the girl has better vocals than the other two though

  32. HELLOWORLD January 13, 2012

    amaaaaazing!

  33. Izzie January 13, 2012

Compared to her previous material, this sucks.

  34. TerenceBarber January 13, 2012

Its ok….I love Alexandra (especially ‘The Silence’), But her voice is way too auto tuned. When her voice is amazing as it is, i just don’t see the need for auto tuning. But maybe the song will grow on me.

  35. ERIC January 13, 2012

I don’t if it’s because it’s a radio rip, but the autotune is a bit embarrassing.
The beginning may come across as messy because the backing track changes a lot from beach house to progressive house to electro/pop, just before the first chorus, but that makes the song very interesting and not predictable. The chorus is the best part, it brilliantly blends trance with house in a hypnotic frenzy of arousing beats and synths (I wish it would be longer) to be honest. When the second verse kicks in you would not feel the progressions as dizzy as the first time and that make them sound fresh and new. Then that brilliant chorus comes again. I wish the bridge had been more playful with the trance-y feeling of the track not just a boring break-beat. I like the song ends, it leaves the listener waiting for more. The lyrics are a bit dreadful and her vocal performance is not as stellar as her previous works.

As a ‘mainstream’ dance track I’ll call it a triumph. It feels more loyal to the ACTUAL EDM music that’s out there. But I want to hear a HQ version to check (again) if her vocals are not that compromised as it sounds.

This song is not even similar with ‘Missing’ in the abilities you cited.

    THE CHORUS IS F****** EPIC!

  36. Bey’knight January 14, 2012

I dont like it at all. The way it was hyped by Sam n some commenters here. Im so shellshocked i like n i loved her prev singles/ album. Damn maybe my ears r just repellent towards electro music now. I look forward to her next single nonetheless im pretty sure this will reach no1 in the UK tho

  37. Yellow Gorillah January 14, 2012

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

it’s cute and it still highlights her voice. Listen she needs to be GENERIC To stay relevant because her fan base is not that strong she can’t be doing things out the norm. She better have a killer video for this!

I also love how everyone is doing HOUSE Music now….. (WFL)

  38. Scott January 14, 2012

This is a certain No 1 for Alex.

  39. Julien January 14, 2012

This is hot. The same people trashing it will be bumping it a few weeks from now.

  40. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) January 14, 2012

It’s a solid dance-pop track, nothing to rave about.I expected something more urban, but it has a great beat, it will work perfectly for the clubs and her tone works well too 🙂 I wish her luck, I like her.The song may grow on me 😎

Btw, whoever even thought of mentioning Everything But The Girl’s masterpiece next to Alexandra’s track needs some education 🙄 ‘Elephant’ is not soulful and ‘Missing’ (the ORIGINAL) is not even electro to begin with…not at all! The remix is electro…If anything, ‘Elephant’ resembles ‘WFL’ and that’s not shade…

  41. KylieciousRevolution January 14, 2012

I really want to know what they’re all doing with those dance tracks. I’m getting tired of all those great singers who wants to be in the top of the charts, so what do they do — oh yeh, let’s make a dance track! .. It used to be original but now it’s just something that reminds me of a few years ago when everybody (almost) had to work with Timbaland. What started with Nelly Furtado’s Loose ended up in Madonna’s Hard Candy, which was almost her baddest album in my opinion, just because she was too late to be original and too late to do something the people still wanted to hear. i really hope Madonna will release a good original album in a few months (please, no more dance anymore!).
So Alexandra, this is to you, I don’t think Elephant is bad. BUT.. your voice is waaaaay better for another kind of music! 🙂

  42. Unk January 14, 2012

    FACKING EPIC TUNE

I wish they didn’t drown her voice in autotune because she has a fantastic voice and I wish the bridge was a little bit longer with a stronger dub beat.

I think this is the first song Alex has ever written so noone should expect her to be a lyrical genius just yet. But the video needs to be abit literal to tell the story and explain the lyrics… , they must extend the bridge and add a dance break with 2004 Britney style choreography. and please let her weave be on point.

  43. Ashantis#1 January 14, 2012

why has she gone into the dance genre? crowd follower. do something original
