‘Sponsor’ singer Teairra Mari has certainly found a sponsor in superproducer Rico Love since she joined his Division 1 imprint. Turning the lights on the ‘Hunt 4 U’ songstress’ hunt for a hit, the two have cooked up ‘U Did That’ – the latest offering from Mari. Set for inclusion on her next, yet-titled venture, we’ve already introduced you to the making of the mix.
Now, with the feature of rapper 2 Chainz, the former Roc princess is pushing envelopes to new heights to earn buzz for this sexy, slow jam.

Rico may be stuck on repeat, but we must say Mari did that – on the vocal tip. The delivery was strong and assured, something that definitely helped sell the song. Even in such, the song may be hot – but in parts, its a little TOO hot. Much like her ‘Daddy’s Home Remix’, the suggestive lyrics might just be a little bit too much right now for an artist clearly trying to find her identity.
It’s one thing to be experimental or forward, but it’s another thing to be…well…extra. Such, as we know, is a trick Mari has pulled out of one too many hats and failed.
Here’s hoping ‘Did That’ does what Mari and co. are hoping it does. As it is sure to get people talking, we hope its not completely indicative of what she – as talented as a vocalist as she is – is offering this next go round.
