Well I appreciate Ashanti doing this because we all seen her doing Whitney Houston songs with David Foster, one of Whitney’s long time producers, while Whitney was still alive. Not like a lot of you bandwagon fans that love her so much NOW, and wanna go buy her “best of” album NOW. And the day before you were calling her a crack head. Just like you did Amy Winehouse, just like you did Michael Jackson.

She wanted to show Whitney how much she inspired her. Paying respect to a person who paved the way for some many artist is the least you could do. It kills me how people will always have something negative to say. Ashanti was not singing this to get praised for her performance, she was singing this out of respect for Whitney. She dug her heels in, and she sang. And wether you like it or not, Whitney would have been proud.
She did a great job with Whitney Houston song. She’s smiling at everyone who loves her especially Bobbi Christina.
Ashanti’s problem is that she has a weak voice!!!! OMG, that was horrible! All she is doing is yelling, not belting out those notes! I agree with one commenter who said she needs to sing songs that are better equipped for her voice. The only reason why some people my think she did well is because they might like the tone of her voice and she did have good breathing when singing the notes, but Ashanti is just pitiful to me. She’s a fake singer. If y’all knew anything about singing properly, y’all would instantly recognize that she’s not articulating the notes and doesn’t really have much dynamics. What is her octave range? Two? Her career is already over, she should just sit down and stop trying to use Whitney’s death as a platform for her to rebuild her destroyed career.

It’s so mind blowing that some many people comment negatively on Ashanti’s tribute to HER idol, Whitney, yet the same people go insane for Christina Aguilera’s voice. Yes, Christina USED TO have a nice voice, but clearly she doesn’t anymore. Take the performance for what it is and stop hating. NO ONE can sing a Whitney Houston song like Whitney once did.
