Christina Aguilera Covers ‘Latina’; Talks Divorce & Drama

Published: Friday 3rd Feb 2012 by Sam

With season 2 of The Voice but a few days away, coach Christina Aguilera continues her “no stone” unturned media assault, landing this time on the cover of ‘Latina’ magazine.

And while the ‘Genie In A Bottle’ singer looks stunning on the cover,  her interview feature proves more compelling.

Check out what the 31 year old had to say about dealing with drama, her divorce, working on The Voice, and more ater the jump…

On getting married and divorced at a young age: “Was I too young? Not at all. I did the exact right thing at the time….I definitely wasn’t too young. I have always been older than my age.”

On growing older: “I was on the set of a film and the choreographer was 19 and I looked around at all the dancers and I was like, Whoa! I’m the oldest person in this room. When did that happen?”

On reconnecting with her father: “I’ve talked about how rough things were for me and I’m sure he’s heard it. He can’t be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch…I’m 31 years old now. Maybe it’s time.”

On resting up from the intensity of shooting The Voice: “When I’m shooting The Voice, it’s intense. On a day like today, my ex has my son and we are not shooting, so I slept and I just slept. I love doing everything in my bed. Eating, sleeping…It’s my domain and my throne…I do it all in my bed.”

On how she handles gossip and brutal reviews: “I don’t read them. Ever…Why read what people are saying—good or bad?”

On criticisms of not being Latina enough: “I’ve dealt with that my whole life. I don’t speak the language fluently. And I’m split right down the middle, half Irish and half Ecuadorean. I should not have to prove my ethnicity to anyone. I know who I am.”

On planning another Spanish-language album: “All I know is no one can tell me I’m not a proud Latina woman…I dove headfirst into a Spanish-language album for that reason and I’m planning another one even though I don’t speak the language. I’m sure that doesn’t sit well with some people.”

I’m glad she embraces her irish and Latino roots instead of just one side.

  4. ThatBoyLuke February 3, 2012

She looks great and it’s great that she embraces ALL her heritage instead of just one half like people like Halle Berry etc Also it’s great that she’s planning annother Spanish album too! #EPIC

P.S I can just imagine QUEENtina commanding her minions from her throne/bed lol

UnLatina need to have several seats with her arrogant ass. The only reason why she released that Spanish album back in 2000/2001, was to ride the latin explosion at the time(with Artists with Latin ancestry having tremendous on the charts) . This chick has no humility and grace.

    DARETODEAL

B**** STFU she started recording spanish songs before the latin explosion even started. She did a latin song when she was 14 on her demo Just be Free. She had latin enspired songs on all her albums except Back to Basis. The original version of Come On Over, Just Be Free Spanish version, Get Mine Get Your Yours Spanish version, Infatuation, Primer Amor, Desnudate, La Casa . Check your facts…

    @ daretodeal…

if the only reason she released the latin album back in the early 2000s to ride the latin explosion why is she doing it this time?

you christina haters are off the chain with your shade throwing when any artist can be accused of cashing in or attaching themselves to the trends. the latest one is madonna who is attempting grab shine by hooking up with young artists such as nicki minaj. there’s also britney rumored to be attaching herself to gaga to resusitate her career.

all of this christina bashing is really pathetic and tiresome. it’s obvious you just want to find fault with her at every turn even it you have to make dirt where there is none.
