Madonna Super Bowl Show Scores Higher Rating Than Game Itself

Published: Monday 6th Feb 2012 by Sam

Debate may rage about Madonna‘s “Queen of Pop” status, however the ratings of her Super Bowl half-time show last night make one thing certain: she remains a commercial force.

Full story after the jump…

The 53 year old will no doubt be shaking off the mixed reaction the performance was met with, after it was today revealed that her hit-heavy set earned a whopping 48.3 million rating.

An impressive feat in itself, the figure is perhaps most significant in that it reveals that the singer’s 12-minute showcase generated a higher rating than the actual game. Indeed, conversely, the New York Giants’ win was watched (on average) by 47.8 million.

Of course, it’s arguable that the high figure is more indicative on interest in the game than in the Material Girl. Whatever the case, numbers speak for themselves. And loudly at that.

Congrats to Maggie. Let’s see if her new album ‘MDNA’ is given a golden rub by this when it arrives on March 26th. Time will tell, ay?
