Report : Ashanti Signs To Cash Money?

Published: Friday 24th Feb 2012 by David

As the masterminds behind Drake, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, Cash Money are no strangers to grooming successful acts.

Just as renowned for their blockbuster sales as they are for wide reaching influence on Pop and Hip Hop music, recent years have seen the label pick up a number of established entertainers, Jay Sean and Busta Rhymez being two of them.

Now it seems R&B belle Ashanti wants in on the action, reportedly signing with the label before the release of her new studio album.

Details below…

Speaking to 98.7 Kiss FM, Young Money CEO Lil Wayne revealed:

As far as Cash Money, they’re always listening and looking at acts, so honestly, it’s like every other day I hear about somebody new just signed to Cash Money.

I don’t wanna step across any boundaries, but I think we’re working with Ashanti right now.

If she has joined the label, her signing will comes weeks after Christina Milian joined the group, which also houses Limp Bizkit, Tyga and the oft over looked Shannell, who served as the group’s only R&B female up until this year.

Seeing as YMCMB has both the know how and finances to support an act of Ashanti’s stature, we hope they use their resources to push both she and her  material to all new heights, in the way have done for Nicki and Drake alike.

That is- if this report turns out to be.

Love Ashanti to death, but honestly, I’m not sure if signing with Cash Money is a good move or bad one. Yes, they do have successful acts on that roster, however they have way more acts just sitting there with no album released, or any of their own success at this point. I don’t want to see that label turn into another situation similar to Universal Records where they had way too many artists sitting, that they were doing nothing with, who all were subsequently dropped. I just hoped Ashanti just presses forward with what she was already doing. If she is just utilizing them for distribution purposes, thats cool, but all that other jazz is unnecessary.

Well done Ashanti, she needs this, hope the songs charts better than it is charting!
She needs more live performances and the video needs to be out!

Feel bad for her, hope this will save her.

I guess I talked too fast last time when I said she was wiser than Christina Milian.

Dang, YMCMB has quickly become “Revival Central”.

    Who’s next? Sisqo?

  11. Forever Queen Bey February 24, 2012

I love Ashanti, but this doesn’t seem like a great idea. She does better being an independent artist. She has great music, and I would hate to see it being pushed aside like it doesn’t mean anything.

  12. Meeeeeuuuuuu February 24, 2012

I think it’s a bad move. Look at previous TALENTED acts who signed with Cash Money and recoded albums that were never released: Lil’ Mo, KeKe Wyatt, need I say more?

  13. BEYONCES NUMBER 1 February 24, 2012

Its a great Move, Ashanti for one owns her own label called writte entertainment, so shed be signed with both like she was with murder inc and def jam! Shes a smart cookie, cause se gets distribution with both.. She or her album will never just sit because shes going about it in a business way not a artist way

  14. Wes February 24, 2012

Come on now., ashanti is not that dumb

  15. HeavyHeavy February 24, 2012

This aint true they are working with ashanti for her new album NOT SIGNING HER. She has her own label remember which means more control and money for her over her projects. Why does this blog always get their info wrong. ThatShitJuice is really losing its credibility

  16. Black Madonna February 24, 2012

SHANELL GONNA BE BENCHED FOREVER LMAO

  17. L21480 February 25, 2012

If it’s true, then it’s a bad move. Murder Inc. was a “clique” label, she should steer clear of signing with another one like Cash Money. Sign with a Columbia, or an Interscope, or a RCA, or a Warner Bros. Don’t sign with some producers vanity label.

  18. KING#15 February 25, 2012

SOUNDS LIKE HE’S SAYING HE IS WORKING ON A SONG WITH HER OR….

THAT NOW HE THINKS THERES A RUMOR THAT THEY SIGNED ASHANTI NOW

  19. BLAH February 25, 2012

NO, THIS IS A FALSE RUMOR, THEY ARE ONLY WORKING WITH HER ON HER NEW ALBUM AND MUSIC SO STOP GOING OVERBOARD WITH THIS BS SMH ASHANTI IS NOT THAT DUMB, SHE DOES NOT WANT TO END UP LIKE CHRISTINA MILIAN OR SHANNEL AND ANY OTHER CHICK JUST BEING USED FOR EYE CANDY ON CASH MONEY (IF THAT) I MEAN NO CHICKS SIGNED TO CASH MONEY CAN SING ANYWAY SMH
