  7. ChristinasCOMING February 17, 2012

This song is just plain f****** boring. Brandy and Monica need to come harder. I’ve tried to get into this song but the production SUCKS! This collaboration seems too rushed.

On the bright side, Brandy sounds amazing!

  8. @THE_MALEMADONNA February 17, 2012

Monica’s voice >>> That note at the end was every bot of EPIC!!!!! Brandy kinda started off flat but brought it back up! NEW LIFE: APRIL 10TH!

I love how THATGRAPEJUICE shows brandy and monica love

    Thank you

  18. I’M SOLD NOW February 17, 2012

Brandy SLAYED!!!! Mo sounded great too but Bran ripped it.

  19. February 17, 2012

Now that is what I call singing! They both killed it and looked great! True artists!

  20. Dinsyz February 17, 2012

1st time ever no negative comments …so far i hate the live performance of the song i love the recorded version. I think Monica made this song live the endding …omg and brandy she delivered…. its a powerful song and i wish the fans would buy it … so that it would be a top ten hit. i know for sure this is going to be a number one r&b track, just because of the artist … but the billboard 100 is what counts.#IABTM

  21. Royalkev February 17, 2012

They both were solid and it was refreshing to see the song done live. I love Brandy’s low to high register she sings in. She builds through out the song and gives it so much character and so many layers. She’s so creative and clever in her singing. Brandy makes this song for me! She’s a beast!!!!!! Monica did great with that note at the end too.

  22. Kathy February 17, 2012

It was alright, I was expecting more. I just can’t take the song seriously due to the lyrics. I mean, honestly, the production and lyrics all could’ve been just better, for a more mature audience….

  23. Almond Joy February 17, 2012

The song is a mess and Monica snatched Brandy’s 2 cent wig!!!

  24. BeyonceFan101 February 17, 2012

Brandy gave me my life back ….you bettta werkkkkk,,,,yasssss!!!

  25. Dev February 17, 2012

I’m with Kathy, although the song is growing on me i cant take Rico Loves Apple product placement in his songs, he did the same with a Kelly Rowland song talking bout iphone and its just cheesy, These are grown ass women and their last albums didn’t have these juvenile elements so i don’t know why they chose this song
    – a few changes in lyrics and it could’ve been better.
The performance was good and i’m still rooting for them both

  26. Justin February 17, 2012

Can someone please snatch Almond Joys dusty wig…lol. I’m kidding, but honestly no one’s wig was “snatched”. They shared the stage and gave it there all with exceptional results.

  27. BC February 17, 2012

Wow…. They did great! Love how Monica ended the song.. #ripWhitney

  28. Miguel Clark February 17, 2012

I have been watching for this for a long time! I am so happy I finally to the chance to witness this awesome live performance from them. I’ve been a hardcore Brandy fan since FOREVER! This song is brilliant and this performance is awesome! Brandy’s deep vocals are so full and moving, and her runs are effortless and dynamic. Thumbs up ladies!

  29. Que February 17, 2012

  30. credits February 17, 2012

Did you hear brandy say, “YESSSSSS!!!!!” when Monica hit that note? It’s cute to hear them cheer each other on like that.

  31. The Real B(randy) February 17, 2012

LMFAO @ someone saying Brandy was flat. HAHAHAHAHAHA. I mean I’, literally laughing. Bran started out low [killing it] and lil by lil crescendoed into full voice. You better learn about vocals and music before EVER coming for Brandy Norwood. Monica was nice too but B. SMH

The song takes new meaning for me, no longer speaking to a lover but a drug of any baggage we carry. It’s now on a whole new level. Open your minds from the pop rubbish and catchy beats [billboard, top 40, 106 and park] that you’re used to and get into emotion. Sheesh. This was amazing for a first live run after a crazy life changing weekend.

  32. Rashaan February 17, 2012

It is so great seeing them both on stage in the spotlight especially all that they are both going through! They sounded great! I have to add that my baby BRANDY looks ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS TONIGHT!! Lets stop with this who sounded better crap….ya’ll get on my nerves with that! They are both great singers and did an awesome job tonight!

  33. @antertain February 17, 2012

Yes! Monica gave me my life! Brandy did her thing too. Did you hear how Brandy was yeeesss when Mo was singing…

  36. DUNK February 17, 2012

  37. sillyjeans February 17, 2012

Yaw gave me exactly what I wanted…. I could never have another Fave brandy you are a Beast!’ yaw shared the Stage n I felt the Love… Yaw truly vibe together!!

  42. Twhist February 17, 2012

Proof is in the pudding….Monica killed every note! Just like the record but better! Brandy’s lower register needed some help, but she did better after Monica opened her up. I was surprised Brandy couldn’t get up there like on the recording, but I liked it!

  43. Steffon February 17, 2012

  44. Ray February 17, 2012

Brandy killed it… To hear this girl sing is like hearing two different singers at once..the highs and lows are two completely different spectrums….People don’t know what range is….range is how high you can go from your lowest….I liv Monica too…brandy is all over the musical scale…lived it

  45. DTG February 17, 2012

    Monica was better.

  46. crynomore February 17, 2012

  47. ******** February 17, 2012

  49. Danny February 17, 2012

My baby Monica tho>>>>> these r&b chicks are just no match for her! From kc to brandy smh better luck in the next life tho

  50. Tristan February 17, 2012

Both ladies complemented one another. I love Brandy’s husky tone and lower register as well as Monica’s belting and runs toward the end. Both ladies looked great, especially Brandy. I’m glad to see them push forward after losing their idol this past week. Kudos to both you ladies!

  51. TJ February 17, 2012

I think for a first performance, the ladies did well. I would like to see them do the following:

Brandy – work on her lower register live. I think she did ok, but it started off a bit off. However, once she got into it, she was GREAT!!!!!

Monica- Beautiful Beautiful Job. Amazing vocal with those notes at the end of the song. Begin to dress in a fashion that does more to compliment the person you are doing the duet with.

I think BOTH ladies did a great job. Now, they need to do it a few more times to really add the “IT FACTOR” to the performance.

  52. Twhist February 17, 2012

    Yeah Mo was better!

  53. DaHotNig February 17, 2012

BRANDY WINS HANDS DOWN! Effortless vocals and runs while monica vibrato was shaking EVERYWHERE and she was on the verge of cracking the WHOLE time. Anyone who say manica was better is musically challenged. GOOD DAY!

  54. WOWFACTOR February 17, 2012

I’ll first say that i LOVEEEEE this song and i’m sure the live performances will only get better from here.

Monica and Brandy are my 2 favorite singers and they slayed tonight!!

Although i think Monica slayed a little more, they both did damn good.

Brandy’s runs were everything, but Monica’s tone and that last night….just sent me through the roof!!

    Good Job Ladies!

  55. Jankobot February 17, 2012

That damn Monica SLAYED. The song and performance was just OK. Dead at Brandy getting her life when Monica smashed that last note, like this is my song!!!!

  56. TheSandMan February 17, 2012

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs They did EXCELLENT! Everyone purchase the song on itunes NOW!!

  57. Jay B February 17, 2012

This was the moment that I was waiting for and I will have to say that the ladies didn’t disappoint. Brandy began the song a little shaky in her lower register but once she got into it she went innnnnnnnnnn! The girl is a vocal beast!! I give her major props… Now on to Monica, she kilt it. Monica knows her strength and she knows that she’s an edgy singer who can kill an live performance. From the beginning of her verse to that amazing note at the end she delivered. People saying she was pitchy must be tone death b/c she gave everything and that note at the end…amazing…even Brandy had to give her props. I must give it to Monica she delivers everytime!!

  58. KENUDIGME February 17, 2012

i hope everyone who thinks this song is GREAT! go buys it on ITUNES. Personally, i think this song is so generic and boring….and im just not a fan right now. SORRY….i really dont know what yall are hearing… I think yall just cheering for Brandy because she had the strength to come back and she’s a very sweet girl, but …it is what it is.

  59. tasteycakez47 February 17, 2012

Such powerful vocals from both females. they may deserve a grammy for this one. i have to see the video. but such talent, Bandy you stepped it up grately compared to “the boy is mine” monica, honey you are overdue for another grammy.

  60. Bey Fan February 17, 2012

    Brandys tone is just greattttttt

    Monica…that last note…..superb

The song is growing on me. It needed a stronger chorus… but no denyin that these ladies can sing

  61. Viola February 17, 2012

Yes to brandys runs.. But honey… Monica slayed the house down.. That girl can blow!!!!! They really compliment each other.. I love how Monica Cha cha’d to the mic lmao and that last note ..: girl…. Sing down… Sing down.. Brandy ur upper register slayed me… Great job ladys..

  62. NICK February 17, 2012

  63. luvwhitney February 17, 2012

I think they both did great…Brandy has evolved and her tone is great….Monica as well she killed that note at the end…but some parts pitchy…rip whitney….

  64. DaHotNig February 17, 2012

After Brandy finished her verse the crowd screamed and applauded. All manica did was that last thing at the end which was chiii booo!

  65. richnblack11(just like bey) February 17, 2012

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS both of them slayed ….get it MO and Brandy due it for Whitney H(RIP)

  66. G Black February 17, 2012

BRANDY’s VOCALS!!!!!!!!!! im sitting her amazed!!!!!! her tone is CRAZY!!!!! the way she started low and finished high! those RUNS!!!! SHE IS AMAZING!!!! monica did good to but OMG BRANDY KILLLLLED THAT DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!!

  67. JazThatBoi February 17, 2012

So i just want to comment on the people discussing the production and the lyrics.

Productionwise: I like it because its not over done. I like that they decided to so something that didnt even sound close to the Boy is Mine. When you have two big voices like Brand and Mo’s you need a simpler production so those vocals can shine otherwise it will sound like to much is going on.

Lyrics: Okay people we are living in 2012 not 1842. Realistically they are speaking of thinks that a typical adult in today’s society encounters. I know 50 year old people with a facebook and a macbook. If anything it dates the song which isnt a bad thing at all. IE. Bug a boo “throw my pager out the window, tell MCI to cut the phone post”.

So in both respects to production and lyrics stop over thinking it because i honestly dont think they did. They just wanted to sing a song together. Everythihg isnt about trying to be epic. ya kno!!! Sidenote: a lot of the hype of the boy is mine is that a that time they were both pretty hot artist and also people thought they hated each other. People looooove drama and there is no drama this time so people of course have something to say…okay im done.

  68. Realtalk 101 February 17, 2012

For both to be veterans neither slayed on this. Both had a hard time handling the low notes and failed at trying to redeem themselves when they opened up. They sounded like beginners but then again Brandy always had a hard time performing live. I’m a little shocked at Monica but then again she didn’t sound comfortable on the record either. Seems like more of a Brandy record than a Monica record and I agree they could’ve came harder than this. Interesting beat but that’s it. The lyrics failed to pick up where the boy is mine left off.

  69. JP February 17, 2012

Brandy and Monica both ate it completely da f*ck up…giving me everything I need.

    B-Rocka 2012 <3

  70. Atlpimpc4000 February 17, 2012

It was a cool performances… Monica was a little pitch-ie

Baaaabbbyyyyy, when I tell you that I’m loving me some Brandy and Monica right about now.

    Proud stan of both!

  73. Always love you, Whitney (RIP) February 17, 2012

Brandy could always sing better to me and has more singing range but monica is good too.

  74. JERMAINE February 17, 2012

  75. Always love you, Whitney (RIP) February 17, 2012

Nope brandy’s high and low registars are both controlled and smooth. Again, monica is good too but brandy’s vocal tone and riffs are mutli-layered and gorgeous and way more impressive to me.

  76. Always love you, Whitney (RIP) February 17, 2012

Monica has more parts in this song that’s why she was killing the performance. Brandy obviously was letting her sing more in this song after 14 years since brandy SLAYED in the boy is mine.

  77. MsThing485 February 17, 2012

I agree that Monica is the (much) better singer. That low, bassy thing Brandy did at the top of the song wasn’t hot. Half the time she mumbles and that’s never good.

Monica’s vocals are clearer and much more steady than Brandy’s. That makes her the better singer.

  78. Yan February 17, 2012

    Monica’s ending note = YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  79. lol February 17, 2012

mizthang shut ya hating low llife ass up

  80. brandystan February 17, 2012

Brandy f***** slayyyyyeeeeeddddddddddd!! That b**** gave me chills I loved Monica too especially that last note. I do agree I wish the lyrics were stronger but.altogether this song has grown on me and I live for anything Brandy does!.

  81. TJ February 17, 2012

Am I the only one who would LOVE LOVE LOVE an entire album between the two, especially since they are now labelmates?

  82. Betty February 17, 2012

Yesss Brandy come on out that shell! That’s what the f*** i’m talking about! Yes we got you Brandy!

  83. B-ROCKANMOSTAN February 17, 2012

i love both of them and that it all, Brandy…speechless.. Monica and that last note girrrrrlllll!!

  84. hu February 17, 2012

i gotta stop coming to this site…its like i’m commenting with a bunch of musically unknowledgeable kids…that was awful…

  85. True February 17, 2012

Both ladies did a great job! They both started off shaky but once Brandy got into it, she went in! Monica WAS pitchy though. She picked it up with adlibs. THAT LAST NOTE WAS EVERYTHING!

  86. Bran Star February 17, 2012

Both ladies did their thing considering how they’re still mourning over Whitney…Brandy’s low part was a bit rough, but she was on the right pitch the who time!! And her transition from her lower register to her upper register was AMAZING! Her extended run before Monica’s first verse is>>>>>>>

Monica was good…she just goes for it, and you have to give her credit for that…Her last note was a bit dramatic…also, she was off key on her higher notes, she really seemed to be struggling up there…it’s like she went sharp and flat on two of those high notes…She needs to work on that a bit more.

Brandy missed one of the BEST runs in the song towards the end…I hope she doesn’t forget to do it next time…Anyways, I’ll give them a pass since it was the first performance….

  87. ChristinasCOMING February 17, 2012

For a lot of you who claim to love this song that’s surely not reflecting on itunes or the Hot 100.

  88. CoCoHEARTS February 17, 2012

1st: Is this how they are going on after 1st live performance.
    Sounded really really good.
Couple things 2 work on are a semi-tone up 4 the starr maybe for Brandy at the start.
Monica got to do a little more with the chorus & section just after the bridge bit to

Let just agree that whether Brandy is your fav or Monica is your fav

  89. Black Madonna February 17, 2012

  90. Beysus Norwood Monae February 17, 2012

LOL @ people showing how very LITTLE they know about vocals with these ‘critiques’ & comments. where in the f*** was brandy ‘flat’? =\
monica’s pitchiness was BEYOND evident in her verse. also, volume & off key belting does not = ‘slaying’. they both looked great, esp. bran. her vocals were consistent as well as effortless, and monica’s last run was nice.

  91. Sing4It February 18, 2012

    February 17, 2012 at 6:59 pm

“Monica’s last run was nice” ***did that hurt to write? it was more than nice!***

What songs do you sing to call Monica pitchy on this performance ?
I suggest you school yourself and play the actual song then listen to this again..

These are seasoned professional artists with longevity and experience who are respected in the industry.

It’s irrelevant for you and others to try down Monica to boost Brandy and same to down Brandy to boost Monica.

They work together, they work well together and they will continue to slay together during this promotional push.

UPLIFT both of them if you are a true fan and support the movement.

    My schooling is over
    Class Dismissed 🙂

  92. JG February 18, 2012

    BRandy VOcal QUEEEEEEENNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
