Alexandra Burke lent her commanding vocals to Janet Jackson‘s gentle ballad ‘Lets Wait Awhile’, covering the R&B classic for SoulCulture TV.
The talented songstress dazzled by performing ‘Lets Wait Awhile’ with a much stronger vocal arrangement than Jackson’s, but at the same time maintained the song’s melodic integrity.
Craving a change of pace from pop’s plastic bag of non-singing singers? Check out a true vocalist at work after the jump and sound-off below.
A brilliant rendition that comes second only to the original.
AMAZING
Brilliant
I am not sure I like her voice on this? It could be because it is just to well known and Janet’s softer vocal is just more appealing to me. I mean she sung ok but just did to much at times!
I really liked this. I think because it showed a different side to her voice, a lighter side whilst making it her own.
Makes me appreciate Janet’s vocal ability, and makes me realise Janet’s tone of voice is far superior to her peers.
if she cover somebody else’s song imma cover her face with a pillow case
Its good but Janet ate that and nobody can come close
Janet Jackson is way better f*** this site.
I think you’ll find that TGJ says that its second to the original. I agree that the Janet version is better suited to her voice but this is still a good cover.
WTF @TGJ
TGJ STAY REACHING AND SHADING JANET!!!!!
LETS WAIT AWHILE IS SUPPOSE TO BE SOFT BECAUSE SHES TELLING THE PERSON SHE LIKES TO WAIT BEFORE THEY ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL CONTACT.ALEXANDRA MADE IT SEEM LIKE SHE WAS YELLING AND YODELING IT TO HER LOVER.
FLOP COVER! JANET IS THE BEST.
beautiful.
I just simply like J cover. Its one of my faves of J but to each their own.
janets all the way but to each its own
Nobody comes close to Janet. What this cover does show is that Alexandra has now been added to that huge list of todays artists that have been influenced by Janet. Great way to pay homage to the queen.
NO ONE CARES ABOUT ALEXANDRA BROKE-MAN
THIS BTICH IS UGLY…………………..LOOK LIKE A MAN
Damn. I thought I was the only one that felt that way about the picture. She is ugly but talented. Please keep the hair in a pony tail. She’s just not photogenic at all. Sorry.
I like it!!!
she’s not ugly I think she’s stunning nothing manly about her at all
I like Alexandra Burke’s voice, but I don’t think this was that great. I believe that if she would have made it more of her own and just sang the song, instead of attempting to mimic the way Janet actually did it, she would’ve hit it right. The end is the best part when she made it more her own.
Please for the love of god stop posting pictures of her. that is the ugliest chick in the game… her upper lip is malformed and just look at her in this picture… shes looks like she’s dying of A***.
LMFAO @ Darren’s comment. I agree this photo of AB is ATROCIOUS. There are no words.
Alexandra did a excellent job.
Janet’s voice is made for that song, which is why its her’s in the 1st place.
Love me some Janet Jackson and I appreciate when people cover songs well. Loved when Destiny’s Child did their tribute also.
When artist and vocalist pay homage like this it shows that people like Janet J will forever stay relevant, whether she is making music or not.
Anyone that says Alexandra sung that wack is straight up tone deaf beyond their years.
Catch yourself before you get caught up!
Some people need a life. You really came on this post to write some unnecessary irrelevant S*** just and gain attention.
Raised well I see!!
Reflect on yourself before you put out such disgusting words.
Very good cover. A little oversung at times, but nonetheless I like it. And that says a lot, cuz I almost always hate Janet covers.
@antertain
Thank You!!! Period
uhm, as a Janet fan I appreciate the cover. However, Alexandra’s voice is entirely too raspy for this song. It loses its innocence that only Janet can do.
I think Alexandra is a beautiful girl (although that first picture is ratchet) . I hope she finally gets a hit of her own so she can stop all these cover songs.
I remember when she won X-Factor that it was about the music but now apparently it’s not when you have promo shots of you in a provocative position like that. Doing s*** shoots is fine when you’re established but not when you’re up-and-coming because you will just be labeled another nice body, really no different than a lot of actresses and models.
