Contrary to popular belief, since the very beginning of Lady Gaga‘s career Laurieann Gibson has been at the helm as Gaga’s chief Creative Director and Choreographer.
As Creative Director it was Gibson’s job to bring the religion-obssessed Pop Star’s outlandish ideas to life in the form of elaborate stage shows, performances, and music videos.
Whether it be Gaga’s metaphorical death at 2009’s VMA‘s performing ‘Paparazzi’ or her blatant mock of Christianity in the ‘Judas’ video, Gibson was always a willing accomplice. However, after Miss Boom Kack’s alleged firing, the famed choreographer is singing a new tune set to the lyrics of “Gaga became too dark and twisted.”
Hear the tea Gibson spilled to ‘Entertainment Tonight (Canada)’ after the jump and sound-off below.
Of the duo’s professional split she says: “No judgment, but [working with Gaga] just got a little dark for me, creatively. I think it just reached the point where I wanted to keep the brand that I had helped build a little purer and still accessing the kids, and it was fun for me. But gets difficult when it gets a little dark and heavy.”
On the one hand, judging from Lady Gaga’s religiously offensive antics and music videos it’s completely plausible for Gibson to feel the way says. While there should be a strict separation between one’s personal and professional life, when one’s professional choices conflicts with one’s personal morals or beliefs it’s clearly time for a change.
On the other hand, Gibson was just involved in thee most sacrilegious display of blasphemy in the history of recorded music when she signed on to produce Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Roman Holiday’ performance for the Grammys. With that being said it’s unclear if her motives to explain the reason behind her fallout with Gaga is sincere, or yet another vapid publicity stunt to garner attention. After all, she did learned from the best Stunt Queen in all the land.

When you look back on Gaga’s image and sound when she first came out, and look at her now, YES!

Lauri is saying Gagas has changed both musically and image wise. What people don’t know is Lauri has been working with Gaga since 2007. She worked a whole year with Gaga before she was introduced to the world. Lauri had a HUGE part in Gaga’s creative direction during The Fame and Fame Monster era. She was bubbly and easy going during the Fame, then she became a little darker, but still marketable towards kids during The Fame Monster. But once BTW came around, you can see her [Gaga] take a left turn music/style/performance wise. Lauri seems to miss the ‘old’ 2008-2010 Gaga.
Lauri didn’t feel any way about Nicki’s performance because Lauri didn’t mold Nicki. You have to understand Lauri pretty much molded Gaga into the person that she is today (stage presence and performance wise). Lauri had no part in Nicki’s development, so she can care less.
Judas is just a metaphor for the sins that hold us back from devoting our life to God, which all humans go through.. Y’all are too much.

She has a good creative mind, but many artists it won’t work for.
I watched the Oprah interview with Gaga and Gaga said there is a creative process that she goes through that worries her parents. She refers to it as trying to find “the door”. SO Gaga does get a lil wacky and dark when she’s trying to create. It may be great to see the finished product but getting there may be “dark”!

“Marry the night” is not any darker than “Paparazzi” or other s*** she’d done before, in terms of video content and performances.

My thoughts: If I come to this site one more time and have some random video hidden somewhere on the page blaring through my speakers, a video I did not open or want to hear – I’m deleting this site clean off my bookmarks.
Wow. Sad thing is I felt the same way. I congratulate GaGa with all her success, but I liked the “Poker Face” & “Love Game” Lady GaGa. She was original & genuine, which she still is but now I feel like she’s doing too much to stand out. Just when I considered myself one of her “Little Monsters,” she start doing crazy s*** & had me reconsidering.
Lady Caca is not creative. She copies and pastes things from Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Roisin Murphy, Grace Jones, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Ayumi Hamasaki who did the bleeding performance a decade before Gaga, the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, etc.

Laurieann didn’t say ANYTHING in this quote about religion. “DarK” does not necessarily equate to religious blasphemy. That idea is pure interpretive speculation on this bloggers part. The way I interpreted Laurieann’s remarks is that Gaga’s image/tone became too “dark” and serious. She (Gaga) definitely takes herself way more seriously than she use to these days and through out the BTW era. She forgot how to be fun and poke fun at herself the way she use to. She went from wearing flamboyant costumes that were interesting, whimsical and sometimes a bit silly (in a good way) to high fashion monstrosities that try way too hard and lacked in the tongue-in-cheek quality that she use to have. Her BTW music video was so over the top trying to be “deep” and “darK” that it missed the mark about the message the song was trying to convey. Her “Judas” video again was her trying to come off “deep” and was suppose to “shock” with its religious imagery but just came off as big budget high-school production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Her “Marry The Night” clip again took itself way too seriously and tried so hard to come off as a cerebral but in the end looked like a ridiculous “b” grade foreign film. I’m glad she’s hiding out for a while to recharge her creative juices and hopefully come back with something a little less “lofty”. She’s not that good at being “dark” and “deep”… I hope she just goes back to being fun.
