Oh the conundrum.
On the one hand, one can’t but salute Trina for adapting to what’s hot. After all it’s a tried and tested formula, which could very well garner her the universal hit her career has been thirsty for. I mean, as serviceable Dance/Pop cut, the track ultimately “works”. And most importantly at a time when, love it or loathe it, traditional Hip-Hop isn’t.
However, we can’t help but wonder why she’d voluntarily inherit the critique levelled at the Nicki’s of the world for “selling out”. Yes, the industry is changing and new trends are “in”, yet are the longtime Trina fans likely to “bop” to this at her next show, after lapping up the hard-hitting Hip-Hop she’s been serving up for the last decade? Time will tell if this “route” is a risk worth taking.

Uuuuuuuhhh…I don’t know what to say. I can’t take listening to Nicki do this s*** and now one of my favorite femcees Is on that route. I just don’t think it’s a good look for her. I understand her need to try something new that will refresh her spirit but it just doesn’t sound good to me. It’s not her. What does outerspace have to do with a breakup? Million dollar girl was pop enough for me. I will buy simply because she is Trina and I am always gonna be her fan but I just don’t like it. Oh goodness this hurts.
So, this is Starships’ step sister. I see. That’s cute.
The chorus sucks and so does the techno breakdown. I like the few places where trina is actually on the track. I dig that part. That’s it though.
This is as corney as nicki’s. “starships.” I’m not mad at nicki or Trina though. Youre never gonna like every song one of your favorite artists makes unless they all sound the same. I just don’t care for all this pop in outerspace crap. It was cute when MJ and Janet did it in ’95. It isn’t cute anymore.
On a side note, I think the absolute worst attempt at this was the Dream’s “walking on the moon.” I can watch that video anytime I want a good laugh.

I know damn well y’all have heard that song over AND over! Use your brains please. That’s why the song it titled that way. However, that does not excuse this corny song. This song could have worked with a stronger singer and a less repetitive beat. I think Trina’s flow worked well on this track but this is a VERY watered down version of “Turn Me On” and “Starships.” Whether she attempted to mimick Nicki or not that’s what it appears like. I’m a huge fan of Trina’s and want to see her do well, but this is not the way. I’m totally down with the dance-rap thing because it’s completely relevant at the moment and isn’t going anywhere, but this song could have gone harder to appease her rap fans. Just because we enjoy rap doesn’t mean we don’t like POP, but this song isn’t even a good POP song.
Trina please do better on your next effort and feel free to omit this from the album….I can’t even see this fitting on a Trina album…?! Take your time in the studio boo….really work at this thing and don’t listen to these young producers just trying to pocket some money buy selling dollar store beats.
