The Voice: Jessie J Makes Chart History With ‘Laser Light’.

For one reason or another, Jessie J doesn’t get the acclaim we feel she deserves.

Ticking a plethora of boxes on a commercial and talent tip, J remains the UK’s most promising act, second only to her former school mate Adele.

So, in what only adds weight to the above point, ‘The voice’ has broken a UK chart record with her latest single ‘Laserlight’.

Details below…

By breaking into the UK Top Ten this week (#5), ‘Laserlight’ makes Jessie the first UK Female Act to score 6 Top Ten hits from a single album.

Lifted from the ‘Platinum Edition’ of her debut album ‘Who You Are‘,the cut follows the success of the star’s earlier singles which have moved a whopping 11 million units in two years.

This, in aid of the LP which has sold 2.5 million copies worldwide, spawning the the #1 singles ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Domino‘.

UK readers can catch Jessie on BBC’s ‘The Voice’ every Saturday  at 7.30 pm, or on That Grape Juice.TV one hour later.

I remember liking her when I first discovered her with “Do it like a dude”. But she needed the commercial push and she had to make the generic songs that dominate nowadays singles charts. I´ve lost interest
I blame the basic b****** who support crap. When is this era finally going to end? I thought once Adele broke the silliness it was ending but it seems Adele is just the exception and will keep being it. People please wake UP

  3. JAKE (… IS STILL AWAITING THE ARRIVAL OF A “TALENTED 21st CENTURY MUSICAL PHENOMENOM”. WHERE IS HE/SHE? #SIGH) April 23, 2012

    @JOHN VIDAL

I AGREE. THE SAME GOES FOR ROCK, COUNTRY, FOLK, BLUES, HEAVY-METAL MUSIC, SOUL, “REAL R&B” ETC…….

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN ALL THOSE, SOMEWHAT FORGOTTEN, GENRE’S RULED THE TOP OF THE CHARTS, (EVEN “GOOD POP-MUSIC” I.E: MICHAEL JACKSON) ESPECIALLY DURING THE “TRUE” MAINSTREAM ERA’S THAT WERE THE 70’S TO LATE-1980’S.

BUT NOW – BECAUSE THE MAJORITY (AND THE MAJORITY IS THE SADDENED YOUTH OF THIS GENERATION) WANT DANCE/ELECTRONIC MUSIC, ARTIST WITH “ACTUAL TALENT” HAVE NOTHING BUT TO CONFORM. IT’S APPAULING REALLY – AS FOR ADELE, SHE IS JUST A ONE-OFF.

WHAT THE MUSIC WORLD NEEDS IS AN ARTIST/MUSICIAN TO COME ALONG, WHO IS SO ORIGINAL, HE/SHE WILL JUST KNOCK EVERYONE OUT THE PARK AND HOPEFULLY OPEN THE DOORS FOR REAL MUSIC AGAIN.

    _______

ANYWAY – CONGRATS JESSIE. YOUR DOING US IN THE U.K PROUD!!!

Is that it!? Sheesh, they say you break records for everything theses days. The album was a re-release so does it really count? Its not like Adele’s album thats still selling with no deluxe or re-packaged edition

I think Abracadabra should be her next single. Poppy for the Uk, and a good American summer jam.
