Pop diva Christina Aguilera and her “team” of contestants took front stage centre on The Voice tonight, performing an ensemble rendition of her 2002 hit ‘Fighter’.

While the performance was a little rough around the edges (and could have done without the chick on the bridge), it served as a solid showcase – especially vocally. Indeed, unlike some of her ‘post-Bionic‘ showings, this is unlikely to harm her comeback campaign, rather enhance it.
Although, for such an important “return”, I’d have “saved” her stage-comeback for the promo of her new single. And if any such “Voice” performance was a must, then negotiate for it to take place after her own. Thus ensuring her comeback is more of an event than merely part of the show.
In any way, what’s done is done…

Christina has been making poor fashion statements as of late. I applaud her for being comfortable in her skin, as we all should be, but once you’re at a certain weight everything will NOT look flattering as it did before! Her vocals are slowly starting to strain which leads me to believe that she’s (a.) probably drinking more than a singer should, (b.) smoking more than a singer should, or (c.) she’s growing the dreaded nodules that have to be surgically removed — but it’s her life. If she likes it, I love it!
Best singer of this generation? Umm, no. She’s a great singer but not the best. Her vocals are not even close to flawless. The performance was okay. But seriously, wtf was she wearing?
Christina is The Best Vocalist in the World these past decade and current decade.
Nothing wrong with her performance but that outfit totally sucks! She really needs to start dressing for her size, she doesn’t need to lose weight but she does need some dress sence, most of her awful outfits make her look bigger than she really is.

In all the years Xtina has been around she has NEVER rushed an album, she is old skool and has said many times that she does not feel the need to have an album out every year, it’s about quality not quantity, The Voice has been brilliant for her as people are getting a chance to see who she really is and she is a strong yet lovely women who is passionate about music, I think she should take her time with this record and comeback with another album that is a part of history rather than todays microwave 2 minute forgettable pop, by the way LOVED this performance and her outfit!

This performance is not just about Christina. She had to give her team some of the spotlight too, so I didn’t have a lot of expectations. Her proper stage return (I guess closer to the finale) will be much more memorable, though, that’s for sure. I also love the way she looks, she’s lost a lot of weight and she looks healthier. And the beginning was incredibly cute too! 🙂
I can’t wait for her to premiere her single. She’s going to nail it and if anything she has a lot to prove. She has to remind people why she’s considered the voice of her generation.

Sam, you are NEVER happy w/ anyone’s performance unless it’s Beyonce! She sang this w/ her team, so of course she’s going to sing one of her old songs and not her new one! Besides, she’s proving that she still has the vocals and stage performance, despite everything! I found her stunningly beautiful and amazing, I was gaping at her mouth open. I liked this performance, the challenge for her was to perform w/o outshining the others, I think she pulled it off well and that body is BANGING!

Now… best voice?? I will give it to her.. Christina has chops on her. But they are wishy washy nowadays. You never know if she is going to be good or if she is going to suck. Adele and Jessie J have 2 of the most purest, well controlled, solid/meaty voices. Christina needs to get back to THAT basic!
To be a great vocalist you have to know how to control your voice. That is one of the main problems with Christina. She overdoes it most of the time. She holds out her notes too long and her vibrato is a mess half the time. It’s like she has to prove that she can sing. We get it! She is a great singer but not a great vocalist. No where near the top. Sorry.
I don´t think those are good vocals but it´s ok. I respect Xtina as an artist more than some other females from the last decade. I´m more interested in Xtina´s material than any other woman mentioned on this post. But her vocals are terrible most of the time and have always been, stunning at times though. Overall it´s not a pleasant voice a la true great 🙂

It was awful. If she was taking voice lessons at all…the voice lessons are not working, it’s the same strained/constricted/struggling/ugly sound as always…and her range seems to become narrower and narrower with each performance.
How can anyone call her “the best vocalist” when she can’t even sing her own damn songs without dodging the high notes or struggling her way through them?

Her vibrato is a mess? what vibrato? She holds her notes squeezing her throat, without vibrato, and ends up singing FLAT most of the times.

Celine is better than Christina because Celine has a much better intonation than Christina, but Lara Fabian and Linda Eder are superior vocalists than Celine Dion, and a list of true great vocalists should include Aretha Franklin, Mina, Caterina Valente, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, etc…but of course, the little tiny bonsai minds don’t know music older than 20 years.
