Literally seconds ago, network head Stephen Hill confirmed that there will indeed be a tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston.

Ever since the singer passed onto eternity in February, a multitude of musical tributes have been staged (with more, including a VH1 Divas special, planned).
Yet, most eyes have remained fixed on how (if at all) the Urban music juggernaut would honour the woman who, in many ways, embedded the Black “voice” into the mainstream fabric. Indeed, it was her “voice” – whether singing Pop, Gospel, or R&B, that would go on to vocally style a generation.
Alas, we here at TGJ HQ can’t wait to see who is enlisted to honour Houston. We know who we want to see, but…

I know there are a lot of Brandy stans that live on the internet but Brandy’s voice isn’t necessirally a good fit for Whitney’s songs. I would go with Deborah C** or Monica if you really want to see a Whitney tribute done the right way. But Brandy could possibly do My Love Is Your Love some justice.
