Nice vid. It’s a shame she’s not getting as much promotion as Rita, maybe it’s because this is her second album. Anyway, I have the album and it’s really good, here’s to hoping she has much success !

The reason why she is not getting pushed like Rita, is because Rita is a ‘ pretty ‘ blonde white woman, who the mass want to see, and Melanie is a big black woman who no one wants to see.

Rita is not just get pushed now, she was getting pushed the moment Jay Z flew her to NYC. She was allowed to have 2 years to ‘ find herself ‘: Allowed to live in NYC, fly all over the USA, working with Drake, Bruno mars etc.

She even had time to have fun at various hotels in Miami and Orange county. She has been walking around with Rolex watches and chanel from the moment she was signed…… They even sent her to Paris for Lousi Vuitton fashion week back in 2010

She has been signed to a modeling agency from 2010 and appeared in Vogue Japan and Elle etc years before her song came out.

When a label is giving that to a singer, it means they value them more.

Melanie is a “big black woman” lol what she’s a tiny little thing.
Rita and Mel are equally talented in my book but Rita has been given better opportunities for sure
You can’t help that the industry is based on looks.

She reminds me of mary j blige.

I think she is behind in her time…..if she came out in the 90’s or early 2000’s she wud have been big….But now things have moved on….What is she even singing about….breaking up….I don’t know but it’s overdone.

Only cam here for J.cole anyways.

She is not making it because she is no a star. She does not look or sound like one. I watch the video and she comes across as ghetto.

    • Taria June 16, 2012

in real life she is ghetto, wetback rican adam rodriquez only dates ghetto black girls.and when people first notion melanie fiona she went to saying she was not black but mixed well a lot of the general public ,that buys cd,s didn,t like that .I wonder what color her boy-friend will be and will she hide him for 3yrs.

      • Marcos O’liva June 16, 2012

i dont think she is ghetto. i think she is just a hit or miss artist. somtimes she have a hit. other times she just plane boring. maybe she the type of artist who needs a gimic.

  4. Ugh June 16, 2012

Watching this all I could think is Melanie’s trying to be someone she’s not.

    • Taria June 16, 2012

anything to apply to the masses of people,to get her music out there, but still don,t seem to be working.

      • ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) June 16, 2012

If she was trying to appeal to the masses, she would be doing pop music and easy radio hits. She’s not. Having read your previous comment as well, I can see you don’t like her, but at least try to pretend you’re objective 😎

Finally! The clip is long overdue, though. They promoted the track in one or two shows back in March! Anyway, I hope it’s not too late. If urban radio playlists it, she’ll be fine. Then, she’ll be able to give us a video for ‘Bones’! I need one!

I love the video and the song. If Melanie was a dancer she would definitely be slaying. However, her voice along is enough to get her some sales. I totally agree with TGJ. The MF Life is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED!

i think she dresses horribly. and has no real personality. shes an amazing talent but she doesnt shine like Rita does. Rita gives off s***, Melanie Fiona doesnt. SEXS SELLS. She better hike up those skirts, tease her hair bigger, and get some gay guys to teach her how to be great!

  8. A Huge Fan June 16, 2012

I think that Melanie is heavily underrated she deserves much more than what she is accredited for. Some artist are for mainstream while other artist are not. I believe Melanie is okay with the appreciation that she receives from her fans. I believe that if she stays humble she will get her chance to shine. Winning two Grammys I don’t think she gets the recognition she deserves but in this industry I don’t think she ever will.

You people amuse me when you say she is a hit or miss artist, and that she is ghetto. Like really???? Is that the best you guys can say. Name one song where she doesn’t show amazing vocal range, and meaningful depth behind her lyrics??????? Now tell me what other artist can be purely R&B and sound like Melanie?????? None, not even Beyonce or Rihanna. SO DO MELANIE A FAVOR AND JUMP OFF HER BALLS AND REALIZE WHAT REAL MUSIC IS……….Ijs

    • loveXO June 17, 2012

      I agree with you 100%.

I wonder who produced this song, because those drums are really a distraction from Melanie’s performance! why is it looped almost the whole song? That army stomp kick plus the percussion and live crowd sample added to the other kick is just too much. The chorus with the guitars are solid, but the drums take away from the overall final product. It’s messed up because Melanie is a great talent vocally. smh If I was the mix engineer I would’ve wanted to bang my head against the wall. they put drums, a sample of a live crowd, percussion, a bass guitar, multiple guitars, a piano, a vocal sample, an friggin’ organ playing at the same time in the chorus, and recorded a soul singer with layered vocals on it. UGH! probably due to some crazy person at the label who probably never played an instrument in his life said she needed a more “uptempo/urban” record to “thump” inorder to compete. the industry needs a makover smh
