Cheryl Cole Announces New “Urban” Single

Published: Tuesday 4th Sep 2012 by Sam

Sans ‘The X Factor’, Cheryl Cole‘s album sales have lacked any kind of factor.

Indeed, the singer’s latest LP ‘A Million Lights’ dimmed on the charts with the swiftness, dropping out of the UK top 40 shortly after release.

And with recent single ‘Under The Sun’ failing to shine, the former show judge has lined up another cut in a bid to repeat the success of the album’s only successful “face” – ‘Call My Name’.

Find out what the album’s third offering will be after the jump…

According to Cole’s official Facebook page‘Screw You’ is next in line for the single treatment.

Markedly more “Urban” than any of the 28 year old’s past releases, British Rap star Wretch 32 is enlisted to drill home her clear “street” agenda.

Take a listen below…

Bar ‘Call My Name’, which played like a cheap, yet cheerful rehash of Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’, ‘Lights’ – like most of Cole’s material – sounds like a dire mix of demos from 2002. ‘Screw You’ included.

Given the amount of pounds (£) and media pretence pumped into the nation’s “darling”, it’s shocking that her team seem incapable of snapping up better material – or ensuring that she actually promotes what she does have out. After all, Rihanna may be her Stateside counterpart (see: thin on talent, tabloid fame), yet Ms. Fenty can’t ever be knocked for the top notch production on her songs or her work ethic. Cole should take notes.

Aww Sam as someone who’s trying to run a more respected blog site than that of M**, you should probably not be that sloppy with the info you put up. Under the sun did not fail to shine, it was just realsed last Sunday and will be charting this weekend and it will probably end up in the top 10 most likely no 1 spot. Next time don’t be so fast

    • SHUH September 4, 2012

It will not end up #1 Nor will it even chart in the Top 10. The song itself is only at #16 on itunes and is dropping.

      • Ayo September 4, 2012

        We will see then

      • Ayo September 4, 2012

I’m not backing Cheryl talent wise, it’s just that Sam likes to give all the details of success for the artists he supports i.e Rita Ora, but if he doesn’t like a certain artist then he’ll gloss over the truth.

    • SHUH September 4, 2012

I know 🙂 even on slow days, it’s just back to back s*** of his favourite artists. Where’s the news on other artists who are coming back? Where is the article about Leona Lewis’ pictures from her new video? I don’t give a f*** about Lady gaga walking around with a boyfriend, where’s the ‘music’ related stuff. Rita Ora will fade within the year

      • Ayo September 4, 2012

I think Rita will do well in the UK, but Sam is being delusional thinking she’s gonna be major in the states

  8. I’m not throwing shade, but… September 4, 2012

Urrrm, sorry, if i remember rightly TGJ you were praising this album, and was shocked when she said that she had no plans to take it stateside.

Also in a video clip she said that this was going to be the second single and you guys were cooing, gasping, sashaying whilst two clicks and a twist.

Why have you changed you mind suddenly? I say this again as i said then. This album is Cheryl trying to be Rihanna… it clearly didn’t work.

    • BLUE September 4, 2012

  9. VIVALAONYX September 4, 2012

NO NO NO!! Why not “Ghetto Baby” or even “S*** Den A Mutha”?? Her team slacking!

    • Ayo September 4, 2012

I don’t care what people say about Cheryl’s vocal ability but s*** den a mutha is my song

  10. Beyonce’s Weave (& Her “HIVE” of Head-Lice) September 4, 2012

I don’t think she really cares about this album since she is going on an arena tour. If she did, she would be promoting everywhere, instead she is just getting ready to slay at that arena tour. Samantha is gonna have to deal.

  11. What? September 4, 2012

Cheryl is no whiteny But b**** Can Mime an epic performance!!!!! Trust! And “Under The sun” has been Charting Weeks before its official release I think that’s why its not going higher and Plus S*** than a motha should be next single

  12. Saetana September 5, 2012

Even her recording voice is thin and weak, I feel another flop coming on ;o)

As a non-Cheryl fan, and as a true lover of urban music, I thought her latest album was incredible. Now, I find it hard to get into an artist if they don’t have a strong solid voice, but I thought the production was perfectly fit around Cheryl’s thin vocals, which is why it just worked. Some songs it didn’t work so much on. For me, she isn’t releasing the right singles. ‘Call My Name’ was great, but I feel she should’ve eyed up ‘All Is Fair’, ‘Boys Lie’, ‘Girl In The Mirror’, ‘Last One Standing’, ‘Love Killer’, ‘One Thousand’ & ‘S*** Den A Mutha’. I do kinda like ‘Screw You’ too, but it does sound a bit weak overall and lacks that punch that some of the other tracks have. I was genuinely surprised at how good the album was, so it’s interesting to see negative comments when I felt it was her best work yet, and this is coming from a non-fan.
