Last week saw Christina Aguilera grace the NCLR Alma Awards to collect an award in honor of her humanitarian efforts.
Taking to the event in support of her forthcoming album ‘Lotus’, the Pop Queen gave the press on the red carpet a lot more than they bargained for when she unveiled plans to release a Spanish record. A record, which would follow 2000’s ‘Mi Reflejo’.

Has Xtina finally learned to speak spanish fluently? It would be disingenuous of her to keep phonetically learning spanish just to make a few more dollars in the latin music market.
First of all, Christina is well received and honored by the latin community. She already won a latin grammy. Also, she is embracing her latin heritage, which her father is Ecuadorian.
But she doesn’t speak a lick of spanish and never bothered even learning the correct pronunciation of the words 🙂

Her single is still well in the top 40 with zero promo. She has yet to perform the song or release a video for it. Im confused. Should it be soaring? How many other pop stars have managed to do that with a song? Even Move Like Jagger spent time at the bottom of the charts. Christina and her team are well-aware of the formula for a #1 single. She’s had 5 already! If you take issue with how her team has handled her career over the last several years, that’s one thing. But, to say she is incapable of obtaining one, seems to come from a place of hatred. Yes Christina hasnt has a #1 in quite some years but she has worked a lot less then her counterparts. For the most part she stays out of the spotlight. So perhaps she is satisfied with her career, and doesnt want any more than what she has. She doesnt look like a pop star that is concerned with a number 1 right now. She gained a considerable amount of weight and has yet to perform a song that skyrocketed on itunes. She seems very free and unconcerned with what is happening or what people are saying about her. I think that is what attracts her fans to her. I think its pretty cool too. She seems to be living her life and not givinga crap. more pop stars would be happier if they lived like CA

I have some hispanic friends here in NY, they help me, i want lo learn spanish, i think is a beautiful language.
@S****** Blonde Spanish is really similar to English (due to Latin roots) but it was due to the conjugation, forming irregular past/present/future coherent sentences, and bad teachers that made me discontinue the language.
it’s not similar, spanish is more similar to italian and portuguese, English is more similar to german.

It is similar because French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc most European languages are a decedent/fractions of Latin roots. I know what I am talking about, believe me. I took Spanish for 3 years, I am currently taking French and I dissect root words and their etymology for my IB English Class every week to its core so I have an in-depth understanding of the words roots and the meaning derived from it. An example would be the English word interested. In Spanish its interesado(a) and in French its Interessant(e) etc…

@S****** Blonde that’s what I mean…Lots of words and phrases sound/are spelled similarly from these Latin branched languages. But as overall, Italian and Spanish are the closest to each other. For example, in Spanish you say Como se dice? and in Italian you say Como si diche….?

For an artist bouncing back from a flop I’d say the single is doing just fine on itunes with no promo or video. You’re just a hater. Why don’t you ask yourself why all the singles Rihanna released from TTT flopped except WFL. Sure they were all hits but for somebody of Rihannas caliber scoring #1 after #1 they flopped.
Once Your Body video is released and she begins performing it, it climb back to the top and score her her 6th #1 song. i agree. I dont understand the hate coming toward Christina … unlike most pop stars she deserves her success based purely off her talent man.. that girl can sing. I think her team has a plan for the promotion of this album, i read in billboard that shes kind of stuck in LA right now bc of the voice, but will hit the promo trail as soon as that it wraps. I think her team wants to drag this album well past the new year probably into march and she’ll hit the road sometime in june or july. I think thier plans are to make this era really huge for her and they dont want her comeback to peak too soon. That is my only explanation for team taking a backseat this early on. Dont get me wrong! her fans are hyper than ive ever seen them but her promo is mediocre to say the least. But i belive it will pick up once live shows for the voice begin
I would say go for it BUT a)she needs to learn how to properly pronounce the words and phrases( a Spanish friend of mine can tell she isn’t pronouncing the words properly) b) it can’t be a Spanish version of (fill in the blank) like the last Spanish album was c) if the rumors are true, she should go and visit her latin side of family. Seems like she is just exploiting that half to enter the Latin music charts while not being there for that side of her family.

I would Love for her to record another Spanish album. Christina’s voice is amazing, and it sounds really good in Spanish. Plus there is something about music in Spanish that just sounds so much better then in English, Don’t know what it is…either way she is a Great vocalist and would love it.
To add, The Latino community Loves her and will welcome another Spanish Album from her. As for her Looks (no offense to whites) She is Thick now in a good way, and well, Latinos and Blacks love it. Bring it Christina!
