Looks like this year’s BET presentation of ‘Black Girls Rock!’ is set to be its best yet.
Indeed, the showcase designed to highlight some of the globe’s best and brightest women of color, is returning to the air this fall to add more names to its growing list of honorees.
And, with the likes of Ciara, Brandy, Keyshia Cole, & India Arie on hand to lend the night’s entertainment, it’s safe to say viewers are in for quite the treat:
Actress Kerry Washington (‘Scandal’) and songstresses Alicia Keys and Dionne Warwick are three of the night’s big honorees. Earning recognition for excellence in their crafts as well as philanthropic activities. Set for taping on October 13 at New York City’s Loews Paradise Theatre, the Tracee Ellis Ross/Regina King-hosted show will not hit television screens until November 4 at 8:00 pm/ET on BET (source).

Why not just call it “Girls Rock”? Then it’s not about race, but about all girls around the world!
Are culture does not discrimminate heavily against white girls. But if somebody made an “Asian girls rock” or a “Hispanic Entertainment Telvision” nobody would castrate the makers.
Actually they have Telemundo and more Spanish Television shows than Blacks. We are finally catching up though. We BET, TV ONE, CENTRIC, ASPIRE and OWN is owned by OPRAH. OH and Bob Johnson , the founder of BET is coming out with another tevelsion network dedicated to black folk. So we are making strides.
Yes and on The Asian, Latino & white oriented stations then they Rock as well! However, on BET –> BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION< — BLACK GIRLS ROCK & RULE!! 🙂
If African-Americans wore able to be portrayd in a positive light or even have a chance to have a voice on white tv then we wouldn’t have to have a show. Before you talk look at tv, who do you mostly see on and in a good light? White folks. So when they stop owning everything and making it harder for minorities to be apart of anything then you can talk. Stop the ingnorance.
