OutKast star Big Boi is once again setting sail on the solo trail, and has brought along Kelly Rowland for the ride.
The pair have teamed up for ‘Mama Told Me’, the first single to be lifted from the rapper’s hotly anticipated sophomore set ‘Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors’.
Big Boi’s first solo set, ‘Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty’, bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2010 and birthed three singles, ‘Shutterbugg’, ‘Fo Yo Sorrows’, and ‘Royal Flush‘.
Is he onto another hit with this one? Take a listen after the jump…
A delicious slice of Soulful-Funk, ‘Mama Told Me’ manages to give a nostalgic nod to 80’s Synth sound while remaining entirely current. With its whimsical production and catchy hooks (courtesy of Kelly Rowland), it’d be criminal if this didn’t smash on Urban radio. It certainly deserves to. Great track.
